Cashman or Torre?

Post#1 » by moocow007 » Tue May 29, 2007 5:36 pm

Given how poorly the team has played this season, who should be blamed? Is it the manager that can't get the players to play or is it the players that are the problem? Or is it a lot of both?

If you really need to save face by axing someone, better it be Cashman than Torre. That

not true a GM is fired sends nothing to the players. A coach gets fired play time is over.

Unless the players have more respect than that manager than anyone in the world. Lets face it though, these guys are professionals and should perform no matter who is in charge.

Someone needs to be made example of in this organization. Whether it be both Torre and Cash or both -- one MUST go as an example. These guys are becoming complacent which means it's time for people to really worry about their job being taken.

The guy the need to bring in for GM is Mike Rizzo. He was with the D-Backs and is now with the Nats. He built the D-Backs system into the best in the majors. He runs incredible drafts and is the right guy for the job. It is easy to hire someone with a financial background, so more emphasis should be put on the baseball side, and Rizzo is the man for the job.

Isn't Gene Michael still with the team?

Yes, he is 70. He has been here all along, but that didn't stop Steinbrenner dealing for Sheffield, Lofton etc. -Jitpal

This is my biggest fear of the entire debacle that has been the 2007 season so far. The wrong guy is going to get canned: Cashman.

Torre should have been canned after the '04 ALCS, and Steinbrenner had another chance to get rid of him 2 years ago when he gave him an extension.

Steinbrenner is lucky that he doesn't care about his money, because he would be one of the worst owners based on his baseball decisions.

I couldn't agree with you more. If Cashman goes then Tabata is leaving in a deal for someone like Ken Griffey Jr. and guys like Betances and Chamberlain are going to be dealt for guys like Miguel Batista and Livan Hernandez and guys like JB Cox and Kevin Whelan will be dealt for guys like Scott Linebrink or Fernando Rodney. Everything good that has happened since '03 would be erased. -Jitpal
