Of course Jorge Posada is overachieving. But the guy is a better hitter than the 3 Red Sox I mentioned.

The Yankees have one person... look at how many Red Sox players are performing way over their heads: Lowell, Youkilis, Pedroria and Okajima.

"buddy," he's got a .274 career BA. if what he's doing right now isn't playing over his head, what is?

youkilis has a higher career BA (not by that much, but it's higher) along with a .390 career obp. everybody knows the guy can get on base. he's not overachieving as much as you think.

Before this year his highest batting average for a year was .278 and right now he is batting .72 points higher, I would call that overachieving.

cmaff051 wrote:Unbelievable win... and the fact that Arod homered off that little bitch ass Papelbon is even better. I can't stand that stare, it makes him look like a complete **** tool. I am glad we got to Okajima, that guy is performing so over his head it isn't even funny.

Ortiz had a great AB off of Mo, but Mo looked great against the rest of the batters. I agree with you TKF, I am glad Youkilis got beaned. Pedroia deserves a nice ball in his back too... rookie should shut up for once and know his role.

Boston has a lot of guys playing over their heads, guys who have a career of not being that good at all.... Lowell is blazing, I have him on my fantasy team and he is putting up ridiculous numbers, that will not keep up, okijima? LOL.... Pedroia? come on, I see these guys slowing down and with ortiz not being ortiz so far, this could open the door...

lowell leads the team in Homers and RBI's. and their staff is very hittable. Daisuke gets a lot of run support , I am not that impressed with him, beckett is not a 7-0 picther or whatever he is, but you guys are right, that shyt stain pedroia really irks me..

Aces my ass. I said it before and I'll say it again. Schilling is 39 and doesn't have his velocity. Matsuzaka was good because no one had seen him and now that they have he has a 5+ ERA. Beckett isn't that great in the AL and he is constantly hobbled by finger blisters. Papelbon couldn't stand up to a full year of work last year, who knows if he can this year. Okhajima is the same as Matsuzaka, with a deceptive delivery and lack of scouting. The Yanks saw him enough and hit him. The Red Sox are not as good as their record indicates. -Jitpal

Edit: Tavarez is well over his head. Wakefield is Wakefield. Brendan Donelly and Joel Pinerio are the other two guys out of the pen, real talent there. Their bullpen has been doing well but completely over their heads. That entire pen aside from Papelbon has been over performing and it all evens out. They can win all the games they want now but in August and September, I'll be laughing when their bullpen is blowing every lead Ortiz and Manny create. -Jitpal

Just wait until this team gets some young healthy pitching into the mix like Hughes, Joba, Horne, Kennedy and T-Clip along with Tabata.. hopefully Arod and Jeter will still be in their primes by then, because we'll be back and a force.

I can't see us doing much this year if Hughes doesn't come back..but young pitching is on the way and our pitching staff won't be this bad forever. I think we'll make the playoffs but I don't expect much from this makeshift pitching staff... unless Hughes is back.

I wouldn't look too much into comparing career BA between Jorge and Youklis. Youklis hasn't been in the league long enough for you to whip out career stats. Yes, Youklis has a history of getting on base but he's never been a guy to bat 350'.

Also, I'll disagree that Lowell is playing over his head. Before his nasty stretch with the Marlins he was one of the best pure hitters in the game. Stick a giant green wall in LF and he has his career again. He'll slow down a bit but his numbers will continue to be great. Pedroia on the other hand -- he's a little tike. I'd have loved for him to come up against MO and to have MO destroy him in the 9th. He'll learn his place once someone puts his punk ass on the ground.

Yes he is.

I really think the Yankees are a better team than Boston wen every1 is healthy.

But that is not the way it is so far but i still believe we r a better team than Boston, regardless

Just look at the stats between these teams.

This is a Red Sox team that is healthy vs a unhealthy Yankees team.
