My thought is I think you would rather see A-ROD suck then to see him productive. and since when is a .550 record horrible? especially considering all the injuries the team have had.

They are fourth in the division right now. Saying horrible is an overexaggeration but being in 4th place isnt good. With the yankees, its basically championship or bust. Obviously this year with the injuries those expectations have to be lowered but id hope for the yankees to atleast be in the playoff hunt if they cant make the playoffs this year

Are you kidding me? How are they not in the playoff hunt? They were second in the division yesterday and 1/2 game back after today's loss.

Trust me; this team will finish 4th of 5th. It's mediocre. Which apparently is what Hal "Didn't get any of the Smart Genes same as James Dolan" Steinbrenner wants. Mediocrity and sell some tickets. That's all.

if 1/2 game back is mediocre then what is bad? what is average ? what is great? is it possible that the yanks will finish 4 or 5th by season's end? absolutely. But it doesn't mean the team has played mediocre or even bad so far.

Which might be fine if they had a good farm system ready to shore up the team, but the Yankee farm system seems routinely panned by scouts, especially for position players. Not a lot of good pitchers either. The yankee farm system lately seems to specialize in 4th/5th starters and relievers. They produce a good number of them, which is a good thing, but that's about it.
And they've stated and shown they are going to be cheap in FA. Yeah. Excitement all the way around.
I'm a big fan, but it's clear the management of the team has basically thrown in the towel for the next two years; they did so as well last year, but there was enough left in a very low tank to get somewhere.
Now it's about doing "ok" and seeing enough tickets to profit and that is it. I don't begrudge them their profit but I bet they are taking more profit than before.

Also - the team has played over it's head. Given enough time it will revert to what it is - a .500 club. Definition of mediocrity.

Look, the Yankees need him, period. End of story. Youkilis' bad back gave out, it became when is Alex coming back? A scarecrow hits better at the hot corner than anything the Yanks have right now.
Hal and Cash are learning a harsh lesson. In this town, you CANNOT charge fans top dollar for tickets and expect ratings to rake in the dough if you don't have the horses to bring interest. Being competitive is not enough in NYC. It's too expensive to just be competitive.
It's a failure on Cashman's part for agreeing with Hal and yet, doing nothing to draft well or stock the farm. Anyone know when or IF Pineda is pitching this season? Boy after Carl Pavano, I almost think every Cashman signing has to do a DL stint.

It's BOTH. Alex wants his money before his banning. Yankees think he's not living up to his contract and should take his medicine and give that money BACK.
Shockingly the player's union has been silent.
A-roid said his leg hurt not the Yanks.

Alex has been getting paid, while he may get banned at some point, it wont be a lifetime ban, he'll be back at some point and continue cashing the checks.
I agree thats what the Yankees are thinking, and that thought process is asinine, THEY offered the contract, hate Arod all you want, but thats the FO fault.
I think Arod said that because Cash-man told him to go to Triple A, instead of calling him up to the show. He feels slighted by the organization right now, and he should.

If he is out for certain time period, the Yanks collect the insurance. If he receives a life time ban, the Yanks are off the hook. I doubt it. He'll get a 150 game suspension yanks will save close to 30M during that time.
