Yanks (55-51) @ LA Dodgers (57-48) Tale of Two Cities

Let's roll the clocks back to before the season began.

The New York Yankees had issued a mandate to get under the luxury tax. No more free spending as Hal Steinbrenner had chest thumped.

On the other coast, Magic Johnson & his group went to old school daddy Steinbrenner route: Trading for Carl Crawford, A-Gone, Signing Zach Greinke, trading for Hanley Ramirez...and bidding on Yasiel Puig.

At the start of the season, it looked like the Yankees "bargain" replacements for their injured starters caught lightning in the bottle. Meanwhile the Dodgers started out of the gate flopping.

Baseball is a 162 game season, it is undeniable, the creme of the crop will rise to the top.

And so, the Dodgers rose while the Yankees sank.

In a tale of two cities, it is clear both teams are headed in opposite directions.

Unfortunately it's not enough but don't tell that to Cashman who was quoted as hoping the Yanks get Granderson back soon and catch a wild card.
