Toronto Maplejays (57-67) @ New York (64-59): Fight on!

Look at the Yankee averages:

Cano: .307
Soriano: .292
Rodriguez: .320
Granderson: .274

Yankees are playing .700 baseball and closing in on Oakland for the second wild card. There's only one problem, they will have to play .700 baseball the rest of the way as well.

4 game set against Toronto followed by Tampa, Baltimore, White Sox, Boston, and Baltimore. A LOT of ground can be covered if they do well against Tampa and Boston.

Now, here's the question can the offense carry this team up the charts?

Nova is starting to fall back onto that 8 hits but somehow gets out of a jam to give the Yanks a chance. What about Hughes? What about Sabbathia tipping his pitches? Pineda anyone?

A STEEP climb...but not impossible in this town.

Kind of sad, Joba can't get a 1-2-3 inning and Mo has to come in a non-save situation to get the win.

Awesome night game with a great game from Nix. Hopefully tonight doesn't mean the end of A-Rod's mean streak.

If the score holds, Yanks will pick up a game on Oakland for the second wild card, cutting it down to 4.5 but keep in mind, the margin of error is very slim from here on out.

Adam Warren takes the one run through 3. Gonna need some pen help for 6-9. Yanks 2-1 so far.

Happy 4K Ichiro!

Difference cut to 4 games for the second wild card. If the Yanks can finish off Toronto, next up Baltimore!

Think with all the series against Boston and Tampa, Yanks control their fate. Just gotta sac up!
