Re: CC done with bad hammy
The only way CC Sabbathia strained his hamstring was reaching over the kitchen table. Look, I know his last start was much improved. He credits making adjustments to his game but I gotta say, why did he wait so long during a miserable season? During one stretch opponents were hitting .287 against him.
Paging Michael Pineda! Anyone? Bueller?
Consider the two best Yankee pitchers this season will be either retiring or hitting FA where Cashman will have to overpay to bring Kuroda back. Wasn't that "Financial responsibility" a part of Cashman and Hal Steinbrenner's mantra?
Overpaying every season on one year deals like Youkalis and Kuroda doesn't work if you're threatening not to pay younger guys like Cano a big salary.
So let's talk about the state of the Yankee pitching:
Ivan Nova: Was rocked against Boston. Still he's improved his accuracy/location and a gritty 4th spot.
Phil Hughes: Impending FA. Why do I get the feeling Cashman will sign him back for less money?
CC: Out for the rest of season. Back for $20M next year.
Pettitte: Retired.
Kuroda: FA and could retire if the Yanks are going nowhere.
David Phelps: Back from the DL. Not sure if he's starting material or a good long reliever.
Wow......and just like that, the NY Yankees are in shambles.

"I don't think I'll ever be that same guy again," Sabathia said. "I'm 33 this year. Pitching against San Francisco the other day, I felt back to myself than any other start. It wasn't velocity. I was 90-93. It was just pitching inside, throwing fastballs in hitter's counts. Just going out there and being a bully. I felt like that was something I was before and kind of lost it this year."
