Yanks Reportedly Offer Infante 3 Years $24M

Per Joel Sherman...

Jon HeymanVerified account‏@JonHeymanCBS
#yankees offered infante 3-year deal. But he's seeking $40M, 4 yrs. kc among others in.

That's about as much as I'd go as well. 4 years and $40 million is crazy. The Royals appear to be the competition. How funny does that sound? A team that for decades were among the smallest pocketed teams in the majors.

I think they can make due with Kelley Johnson and Brendan Ryan platoon at 2nd. You got the offense with Johnson and the defense with Ryan. Focus on pitching Brian...you fool!!!!

Yea, Infante at 8M a season was a bit much. With Kelley Johnson, really would love to have Chavez back at 3B and obviously more pitching.

Let the Royals overpay for him and give him a longer deal. I like Infante, but he isn't good enough to warrant that kind of a contract.

Like you two said, pitching, pitching and more pitching. We could get by on our offense with guys like Beltran, McCann, Ichiro/Soriano platoon/DH, Gardner, hopefully a somewhat healthy Jeter, and Ellsbury.

I'm gonna go against the grain with you guys and say I don't mind it as much. Ryan can backup 2B and SS. Re-sign Reynolds cheap and have him platoon at 3B with Kelly Johnson. Reynolds starts against righties, Johnson against lefties.

But yeah again, Yanks need pitching.

Cash was obviously trying to pull another "Lyle Overbay" maneuver trying to get someone serviceable on the cheap. Sorry, no one is going to play cheap in NYC. The two do not compute in today's market especially after Robinson Cano got $240 for 10...what's a guy like Mike Trout getting?
