Until you could think of a better plan, this is how it just might go in close games. Look at the rest of the bullpen...Bowers, Karstens, Farnsworth, Villone. You think we could really rely on them? Until they could even show that they could pitch when we're up 5+ without giving the other team a chance, a starter going 6+, to Vizcaino/Chamberlain, to Mo is the best course right now. Of course our bats could always provide our defense by scoring 16 runs.

I'm not arguing that one of those other guys would be better in the role. I'm just saying, I don't want to see Joba pitching 2 innings a game every game or even every other game. No more than 2 innings in 3 days in my opinion. No need for him to hurt his shoulder and lose the rest of his career to win a couple games in August. -Jitpal

They all ate some crow tonight. Only thing is, I hope this doesn't become a trend. Starter goes 6 then Joba or Vizcaino go 2 and Mo in the 9th. More than Vizcaino, I really don't want to see Joba's arm gone. -Jitpal

Joba threw 7 pitches in his first inning of work when we were up 3 runs, then we put up two more runs to make it a 5 run lead. Why wouldn't Joba pitch a second inning? He threw a total of 21 pitches in 2 innings. Had Joba struggled and threw 21 pitches in 1 inning, would that have been okay to you because it was only 1 inning of work rather than 2?

No I get why last night he went for a second inning. It was 8 pitches by the way not 7, if I remember correctly. Anyways, as I said in the other post, I just don't want to see it being a trend with Joba pitching multiple innings almost every other night. It's only been two outings and this one was a little different so perhaps I am over reacting. We will find out in the coming days. -Jitpal

I see what you're saying, but I wouldn't worry. He pitched 2 innings against Toronto because it was a great opportunity to get his feet wet as much as possible in a blowout (plus the off day coming up so he would have an extra day of rest). Last night, like I said, he only went the 2nd inning because of how few pitches he threw and the fact that we scored to make it a non save situation or else Vizcaino might've been in there for the 8th. As he gets more and more comfortable in the majors and as a reliever, they will be more willing to use him in back to back nights for 1 inning.

Joba's off today, but I would assume he'd be ready to go tommorow for 1 inning.
