A piece on Ian Kennedy (from YES)

His fastball command is ridiculous, definitely comparable to Hughes'. They also show his curve and change which are two excellent pitches. It can be argued that his change is the best in the organization, and his curve has improved tremendously and is knocking on the door of being a plus pitch. He talks about showing Joba his changeup and Joba showing him his slider, which is a huge advantage of these kids coming up together. Kennedy's slider will never match Joba's, but if he can make it an effective major league pitch then he can be a superb pitcher in the majors. Not many guys can say they have pinpoint location of 3 major league quality pitches.

EDIT: It probably belongs in the minor league thread, but with the possibility of Kennedy pitching next week in place of Clemens I figured this would be a good way to give everyone an idea of what to expect, since I'm sure not everyone checks the minor league thread.

That curve he threw for a strike was nasty. Can he throw that consistently? If so, I don't see why he shouldn't be a candidate to take Clemens' start. I also like his changeup, he puts it wherever he wants.

All I hope for is for Karstens not to make that start.

I heard Igawa could be an option too, I sure hope not...Kennedy seems like the best option to make a spot start here just to give him a taste of the majors.

I doubt Igawa will pitch for us any time soon, we gave him enough starts 2 show us what he has and unfortuanly he has not impress.

I hope this kid gets a start tho.

we should give igawa a chance in the bullpen. look at the all the relievers from japan.i think he can do it.

i think igawa is a decent pitcher, but just not a starter. i think he'll be able to fit in a mid-reliever role. he can't be worst than farnsworth

Igawa would be good in a park that would mask his flyball tendecies. A team like the Padres, who play in a HUGE field, is an ideal fit.
