Posada: We Want AL East

Post#1 » by risktaker91 » Tue Aug 14, 2007 5:00 pm

To be honest, I thought the Sox had the division locked up after the first month of the season. Looks like the Yanks are still pursuing the division. 4 games back with 44 games left in the season. When the season is over, who'll be standing atop the AL East?

I say Blue Jays 8).
All jokes aside I really see the Yankees on top!

One more reason not to like Bobby Abreu, "The playoffs are the playoffs, it doesn't matter if we win the divison." Or something like that. But seriously, why settle for the wildcard when there is still someone in front of you. This is the perfect example of someone settling for second best, and a reason why guys like Jeter and Posada are winners and ultimate competitors.

I think people are reading too much into it. Just because making the playoffs is the goal, it doesn't mean Abreu doesn't WANT the division. He wants the playoffs as much as every other guy in that clubhouse, and they all want the division too. But if the team wins the wild card and goes on to win the WS, who is going to say "yeah but we didn't win the division"? Nobody. I think that is what Abreu and Damon were saying. You're fooling yourself if you believe for one second those guys aren't aiming for the division.

And the AL East u will get.

The Yankees will be on top the AL East when the season if over, the Red Sox cant hold it, and the Yankees have come a long way all season 2 let it just slip.

The Red Sox are still gonna have to choke to lose this division. They have so many games left against the Drays and Orioles. They really don't play anyone good outside of the Yanks and 4 games against the Angels.
