The pitcher has to leave the game with the lead AND the team has to sustain that lead through the rest of the game. Wang's lead was lost when Rivera blew the save. When they Yanks got the winning run, Rivera was technically the pitcher in the game, so he gets the win. It's not worth worrying about, this is one of the reasons W-L record is a really stupid metric for measuring pitchers.
The Yankee dugout cleared out prematurely Monday night after their latest emotional rookie roared off the mound with a gigantic forearm cocked and ready to bash with teammates.
"Listen man, I just got off the disabled list and my arms are already killing me from Shelley," said Jason Giambi while quickly packing his bags in the clubhouse. "You see that dude? You see his forearm? I just want to get some at-bats in, I wasn't about to stick around for that."

He threw 30 pitches yesterday and still was able to take the ball from Torre today, that shows a lot. Saying he is done or anything close to it is quite possibly the dumbest statement ever, he is having arguably one of his greatest seasons.

Aside from that little blip in April, he's been unbelievable.

The only thing about Mo that has me concerned is since '05 he has had a blip in April. Every year. Then every year everyone asks if it's time to stick a fork in him. Then he comes back. Also last year, he got a little tired towards the end. I think after resigning Arod and Posada this winter one of the top priorities has to be getting a guy that can setup in the 8th for Mo consistently, and close at any given time. Let Mo go on the Joba Chamberlain plan, pitch 1 inning get 1 day off and pitch 2 innings get 2 days off. Nobody is better than Mo in October but there are hitters better than a tired Mo in October. -Jitpal
