Mo is fine.I dont know why someone mentioned Joba should be our closer next year

This is Mo's first blown save since April 28.Plus those hits that he gave up were f'n bloopers.

Anyways good win for us.

The pitcher has to leave the game with the lead AND the team has to sustain that lead through the rest of the game. Wang's lead was lost when Rivera blew the save. When they Yanks got the winning run, Rivera was technically the pitcher in the game, so he gets the win. It's not worth worrying about, this is one of the reasons W-L record is a really stupid metric for measuring pitchers.

thanks for the clarification. I HATE RIVERA!!!

*i see a anti-rivera RIOT going on in downtown!! RIOT!!! OMG!!

Wow, what a game for the Yanks.

-What a throw by Melky to nail Melvin Mora
-Joba has electric stuff and is a better Joel Zumaya type setup man
-Mo wasn't himself, but he can't always be perfect
-El Capitan strikes again

Not to mention the excellent pickup that Wilson Betemit has turned out to be. This guy has a lot of power, and I'm interested in seeing exactly how his career will turn out.

The Yankee dugout cleared out prematurely Monday night after their latest emotional rookie roared off the mound with a gigantic forearm cocked and ready to bash with teammates.

"Listen man, I just got off the disabled list and my arms are already killing me from Shelley," said Jason Giambi while quickly packing his bags in the clubhouse. "You see that dude? You see his forearm? I just want to get some at-bats in, I wasn't about to stick around for that."

Good 'ol Shelley.

So that why Giambi is getting hits when he is PH'ing. Keep it up Shelley!

I saw something today that said in Rivera's last 45 innings or so, he had allowed about 35 hits and walked just 2 batters while striking out more than a hitter an inning with an ERA around 2. He threw 30 pitches yesterday and still was able to take the ball from Torre today, that shows a lot. Saying he is done or anything close to it is quite possibly the dumbest statement ever, he is having arguably one of his greatest seasons.

If Abreu would have thrown the ball the right way with his strong arm on that bloop hit nobody would be saying anything about Mo cause it would have been game over.So Abreu should take some blame for the blown save too.

Aside from that little blip in April, he's been unbelievable.

The only thing about Mo that has me concerned is since '05 he has had a blip in April. Every year. Then every year everyone asks if it's time to stick a fork in him. Then he comes back. Also last year, he got a little tired towards the end. I think after resigning Arod and Posada this winter one of the top priorities has to be getting a guy that can setup in the 8th for Mo consistently, and close at any given time. Let Mo go on the Joba Chamberlain plan, pitch 1 inning get 1 day off and pitch 2 innings get 2 days off. Nobody is better than Mo in October but there are hitters better than a tired Mo in October. -Jitpal

Hardly a concern. I really don't like the Joba plan. Say we have back to back 1 run games with Boston, why rest Mo?

Mo's issues in April are simply from him not pitching in spring training. The Yankees want him fresh down the stretch, so since 2004 or maybe 2005, they basically told him that he won't be pitching in spring training and April will essentially serve as his March. It has nothing to do with Mo's effectiveness, the Yankees planned it that way.

Abreu did the best he could...he got the ball on the one hop and threw it as hard as he could to homeplate...it got there in time, it was just a little too high.

Moe is getin older but he is still a great pitcher 2 have as our closer.
He has been consistent for us for a while so lets not give up on him yet.
