Gammons has seemed to lost his filter along the way. He gets news nuggets from his sources and he passes them along to the media. I personally like it because I do take what he says with a grain of salt but he does have a wealth of information that is half-true.

$4.5 million on a 16 year old. I was shocked that the Sox signed Michael Almanzar for $3 million, $4.5 is even more mind boggling. I wouldn't mind the Sox signing him because they did cheap out in the draft a bit but damn, that's a lot of money to spend on a high school sophomore going on junior. mahalo

Not to get too off topic on this thread, but do we know whether the Red Sox spent $1.5M or $3M? Both numbers have been thrown out there, but unless Almanzar is a really incredible prospect...$1.5M sounds much more reasonable. They only spend what, $1.3M on Tejeda and Beltre COMBINED?

Yeah at $4.5 million he's already, what, $60 million better than Kei Igawa (and soon to be $24 million better than Mike Mussina)? :D
