Not 100% sure yet, but sounds like Betances and Banuelos may both be on their way to Trenton. If so, that would mean the entire rotation that began the year in Tampa would be finishing the year in Trenton together.

Re: 2010 Minor League Thread!
Somebody over at NYYfans said Manny will throw Monday and Betances on Tuesday, not sure how accurate that is though.
Montero hit another HR tonight (3 run shot), giving SWB the lead in the 8th. 2-4 on the night with 3 RBI's. Threw a player out at 2nd as well.
Aceves threw again tonight:
2.1 innings, 3 hits, 1 ER (solo HR), 1 BB, 2 SO's. ERA is at 2.70.

Montero is in flat out beast mode. I hope he makes the roster before 9/1 so he can be on the post season roster. He should definitely be the DH.
Jeter, Swisher, Teixeira, Arod, Cano, Posada, Montero, Granderson and Gardner. OOOOO MY!

Flores is headed to Charleston to finish up the season
Montero should definitely be given a shot, especially with Berkman and ARod both on the DL for at least another week. The AAA season is almost over, so even if Montero sits on the bench and gets spot starts that is OK, he isn't missing out on much in AAA at this point since he has already more than proved himself there.

Would have to agree. He got off to a slow start, as he adjusted to the talent level I would assume. Having done that, guy is tearing it up (just quoting stats shown in this forum) to the tune of what, .350 BA and all sorts of HR's?
Why not let the adjustment to MLB pitching start by getting him some appearances? If only for that....or is somehow he adjusts quickly the Miggy comparison might come true.

Betances threw very well again today too. At this point I don't see how they can leave him (Montero) off the playoff roster, especially with Berkman under-performing.

I think they said Berkman is going to be in AA for 2 days until the roster expands. So my guess is September 1st.

Re: 2010 Minor League Thread!
Every single top pitching prospect in this system has been downright incredible, I have no idea how to even rank these guys anymore...and that includes #1 (although for me Banuelos has that spot locked, but I can understand if people prefer Betances).
Just look at the last starts for some of these guys...
Banuelos: 5 innings, 3 hits, 0 runs, 3 BB, 5 K in AA (started in low-A coming back from an emergency appendectomy or else he would've started in high-A)
Betances: 4.2 innings, 2 hits, 1 ER, 2 BB, 8 K
5.2 innings, 3 hits, 2 ER, 1 BB, 7 K in AA (started in high-A)
Brackman: Has pitched too well to list all his starts, but over his last 4 starts: 22 innings, 18 hits, 1 ER, 6 BB, 16 K...solid 0.41 ERA in AA (started in high-A)
Warren: His last 3 starts: 18.2 innings, 12 hits, 2 ER, 2 BB, 27 K including that record setting 15 K performance in AA (started in high-A)
Noesi: Made his AAA debut the other night: 6 innings, 7 hits, 4 ER, 1 BB, 1 K in AAA (started in high-A)
DJ Mitchell: Promoted to AAA last week, his last start: 7 innings, 1 hit, 0 ER, 4 BB, 5 K in AAA (started in AA)
Stoneburner: In his last 9 starts he has allowed more than 1 ER just three times (2 runs once, 3 runs twice). On the year in Tampa he has a 2.48 ERA with 74 hits in 98 innings, 24 BB, and 89 K. Would've been nice to see him get bumped to AA since he is 22 years old, but the younger Banuelos/Betances are obviously better prospects and got promoted first. (Started in low-A)
Ramirez: 3.60 ERA, 115 innings, 106 hits, 42 BB, 105 K in low-A and has recently been shut down for the year to protect him. Pitched all season in Charleston, but next year will definitely start in Tampa and we will see him begin to move through the system if he pitches well.
Marshall: In his last 6 starts: 36 innings, 17 hits, 2 ER, 6 BB, 25 K...0.50 ERA in low-A, started in the GCL
So every pitcher has performed at a ridiculous level, and nearly all of them have seen promotions and continued to pitch extremely well.
The crazy part of the list is that we traded Vizcaino in the offseason who would be top 3 on this list, Garcia, Bleich and Cotham have been hurt all year, McAllister and Melancon have been traded, and Nova has been promoted to the major league club and has saved the rotation so far. I also didn't include Phelps because he isn't a "top" prospect, but his numbers are as good as all these guys and at a higher level in AAA. Imagine if we were able to add those guys to the list?
The Yanks have some damn good people working in this organization making this all happen. There is going to be a pipeline of pitching coming in the next 2 years. I actually feel bad for Cashman since hes the guy who has to figure out who is worth keeping and who isn't.

Re: 2010 Minor League Thread!
Brackman with another good performance as well - 6 innings, 5 hits, 2 ER, 1 BB, 4 K
In his last 5 starts: 28 innings, 23 hits, 7 BB, 20 K, 0.96 ERA. Considering he is on the 40-man, it would be nice to see him pitch out of the pen for the Yanks down the stretch
Montero since June 11th: .341/.401/.635 16 homers, 48 rbi, 21 2B, 2 3B, 25/51 BB/K. Crazy to think that he has over 50 extra base hits considering the start he had (just 13 extra base hits through the first two months, 40 in the past three months)

Jesus with homerun #20. OPS is now up to .870. Not bad after a horrible start.

He definitely can, I still think that may be his future in the majors long-term and not just down the stretch. I'm looking forward to seeing what hes got in the majors.
I wonder if he will even get a shot this year, he is already at 136 innings and my guess is that his limit has to be around 140...he will definitely surpass that throughout the minor league playoffs.

It's an interesting idea since he's already on the 40-man, but with Trenton headed to the playoffs it'd only give him a couple of weeks in the bigs and it's better for his future to just let him make his last couple of starts and then shut it down. Plus, it looks like the pen is finally sorted out and there just isn't a spot for him.
Speaking of Trenton, how about that rotation? Banuelos, Betances, Brackman and Stoneburner? I wouldn't want to deal with that foursome in a AA playoff series.

Re: 2010 Minor League Thread!
AA and AAA playoffs begin tonight.
If you thought Betances/Banuelos/Brackman was scary enough, Pettitte will be pitching for Trenton as well tomorrow night. Imagine having to face two 6'8''+ righties in Betances/Brackman, and two lefties as good as Banuelos/Pettitte. Feel bad for that opponent.
