Honestly I'd rather have Gagne....But thats just because I know he could handle it if hes healthy. Otsuka scares me for some reason.

I get that, but I really don't want to be giving up some good prospects to get him. The price for his is going to sky rocket, with basically every team in a race or leading their division wanting to get him. We all know how these Yankees/Red Sox bidding wars go, now add the Mets, Dodgers, Padres, Angels, Tigers, Braves and the Indians to mix. He would be the best bullpen arm on the market. His price will be double or more than what he is worth. Otsuka is decent, cheap and can bolster up the 7th inning role so Procter can worry about the 8th. Farnsworth isn't capable of pitching. -Jitpal

Are you trying to tell me Carlos Pena is the answer at first base? The Sox didn't even want him last year with all their injuries dude.

A's designate Bradley for assignment

Athletics designated outfielder Milton Bradley for assignment.

Bradley had to have done something to really upset management and/or his teammates. Sure, the club was at least a little frustrated about his frequent injuries, but he was playing pretty well when he was able to take the field, batting .292/.373/.446 in 65 at-bats. Maybe the A's will be able to trade him for some relief help, though he'll have little value left now that the team has to move him. The Padres, Cardinals, Marlins, White Sox, Astros, Rangers, Braves, Yankees, Orioles and Mets are some of the possible contenders that could use him, and since he's making just $4 million and is a free agent at season's end, it wouldn't be a huge risk to bring him in. WHAT DID HE DO ?

I'd take Milton Bradley for cheap...headaches or no headaches.

what is it w/ you I'm not talking Mussina right now :noway: , when his turn comes up I'll talk about him. Seriously your not helping me stop ranting about Moose w/ this.

Topic: Carlos Pena

summary: he was released by many teams but now is catching on again in the ML, unfortunately he's a lefty, but could be an upgrade to Andy AAAA Philips or Miguel Cairo which I actually like but he's not built to play 120 games at 1B especially at his age.

P.S. it's called a trade thread for a reason and this team needs additions like a backup catcher that can hit better than .116 or a bench and a rhb that can hit.

The Yankees are not trading for a guy who they cut/let go a year ago. End of story.

Carlos Pena will come back to Earth soon.

thanks cmaff. And a backup catchers job isnt to hit. Its to work with pitchers on the off days,, work with relievers, and be ready to call a good game when called on

The Yankees continue to hunt for a first baseman. The latest rumored name on their shopping list: The Reds' Scott Hatteberg.

I mean better than Posada, Damon(Guess, because we have not really seen him), Giambi, Phelps and Phillips. Doug and Cairo are doing pretty well out there except they can't hit. I'd say bring in Jr, and have a rotation of DHs with all the outfielders except Melky. I doubt Giambi is back this year, so I don't think it will make much of a difference. Only thing is, we need to get a little something more back after Jr, no one seems to want to take his salary so if we take it, we better get a little something extra. By extra, I mean prospects. -Jitpal

If we get a 1B, we should get Teixeira. Enough of these stop gap first baseman.

not for Hughes

not for Tabata

not for Joba

I'd give up Kennedy for Teixeira, although reluctantly. You can't expect to get top talent without giving it up as much as we would like to see these guys develop with us.
