Yup he did, but the potential inning ending double play ball was scalded. Roger was giving up hits all over the place, he has nobody to blame but himself. He was booed off the mound.

Yea agree.

If he wants 2 get paid all that money he better get the job done mistake or not.

He said he isnt playin for da money so y get so much..

Release him?

Your crazy.

Gave him all that money might as well let him pitch, that's one game anyway.

One game is one game...bring him to the bullpen, something....

Obviously that's not going to happen, especially over Igawa, but you cannot disagree with the assessment that Clemens have been a failure thus far.

Sending him to the bullpen is rash, and it's not going to happen, but I'd rather not see him start again until the postseason...

No I can disagree, this team was desperate for starting pitching, if he wasnt here we would have Matt Desavlo, Tyler Clippard, etc. on the mound every fifth day.

Too bad we've painted ourselves in a corner where we need to pay Roger $20 million for average performance. Hopefully down the line we won't have to deal with the mediocre pitching we've sent out to the mound since 2004.

Exactly, we'll have a 1-5 set, and we'll give someone who is Ramiro Medoza-esq a start when we need a replacement...

Jeff Marquez is a guy I like who may eventually be able to fill that Mendoza role... he's in Double A Trenton now. That guy gets groundballs in his sleep, he's nasty.

My ultimate hope is that Wang, Hughes and Joba compose 3/5 of our rotation... we fill the other spot via free agency and the 5th spot either via free agency or the farm.

I want pitchers who are going to go deep into games. I am so sick of this 5 inning ****... pitches who can't go past the 5th inning without throwing 100 pitches. This current rotation lacks flexibility, is old, and severely overpaid.

Hopefully the Mussina, Pettitte and Clemens era end soon. We've gotten some very good years out of that group, but we need to move on.

I hope 46 is in monument park opening day 2009....I love the guy but he kills me sometimes.

O'Neill, Pettitte, Jeter, Bernie, Mo, and Posada all will have their numbers retired someday.....and its well deserved 4 rings is like one hand basically...unless you only have 4 fingers, or 6 like Alfonseca

After last night, I have chosen to forgive and forget. Clemens pitched a great game, but above all that, he showed that you dont F*** with the YANKEES!!

I don't know about O'Neill, but Pettitte, Jeter, Bernie, Mo, Posada and Torre should all be in monument park.

No one has worn 21 since O'Neill retired. Isn't that ironic 8)

I am not a big fan of Roger, and I never have been. But he stepped up big last night when we really needed it.
