Robinson Cano running down the 1st base line brings back bad memories from the 2005 ALCS :(

I agree. But this is growing pains for him. He needs to throw some changeups to keep it fresh, but now it is getting hit. As he gets more experience with it, it will get better. But he needs to throw it. Sometimes it'll get whacked around, but it's good for his future.

He's also flashed a good slider too.

I wish I can remember the batter, but in the game against Cleveland he threw a filthy slider on the inside corner to a right handed hitter for strike 3 looking. The hitter's knees buckled.

I remember that. The pitch looked like it was going right at the batter and at the last second broke in and ended up being down the middle.

A fan was sitting right to the right of the foul pole and reached over and caught the ball right in front of the yellow line, but the umps ruled that even if he didn't reach over it wouldn't have hit the yellow line.

Cano crushed a ball down the left field line that was about to hit the wall when a fan reached over and grabbed it. They were arguing that the ball would've been fair if the fan didn't catch it and Cano should have had a ground rule double. the call could have gone either way IMO.

Another quick inning.

Well 3 out of 4 innings have been quick and flawless. Too bad the one bad inning had to be REAL bad.

I didn't think it was real bad. He gave up a cheap single that turned into a double and then walked two guys... he wasn't necessarily wild. the only bad thing about that inning was the hanging curve.

Phil needs more luck. His batting average against (.BAA) and strikeout rates are terrific.

Yeah I didn't mean bad in a sense that he got beat up badly, just that he had to give up 3 runs rather than minimizing the damage. The walks hurt him but he did get squeezed on a pitch or two, and I thought he went around on the check swing.

EDIT: Also, Cano probably should have made that play on the Matthews double although it wasn't an easy one.

I love how Phil has pitched inside today. That will serve him well. He hasn't done much this year, it will reduce his pitch counts.

Yeah that will lead to more jam shots, and we've already seen about 10 weakly hit balls.

Joe tries to be too cute against the Angels. I hate when he does this.
