And the Red Sox don't win either of their WS and still have a 100+ year drought. **** happens though.

the idiot did..
3 homers with 2 outs in the inning and just gave up a double... take him out..
But I will say this, brett gardner needs to learn how to judge balls in the field, he let one drop in front of him that should have been a routine pop up and inning over with just 1 run damage....

Love how Gonzo went from 31 homers in 2000 to 57 in 2001.
Don't worry we got the worst bullpen in Major League history (literally). This aint over.

And if Andy Pettitte, Roger Clemens, and who knows who else didn't use steroids, maybe we wouldn't have won 4 of 5 last decade.
Seems like the Yanks are just missing on some swings against Lopez, but none of that will matter if Burnett is going to give up 10 runs.

girardi has given up on this game by leaving this dumpster fire in the game.. already given up 7 runs, giving us no legit shot at a comeback.... just stupid..

Eh, its a tough decision but theres really no point in killing the bullpen in a game where the bats don't even seem to be awake. If we were keeping pace, I'd probably agree with you...but its worth it to squeeze as much out of Burnett as possible.

yea, but after the 5th run if he takes out burnett we are just down 5-3 instead of 7-3..... actually I would have taken him out after that first inning...... he obviously didn't have it.. limit the damage.. but again, you make a good point..

AJ Burnett is going through his midseason slump much like the Yanks did leading into the All-Star break. Do I condone his sophmoric pitching? Absolutely not. I mean, he is missing his spots horribly. I don't know why he is pitching this way. I want to blame it on a cocaine habit but he just pitching like ****.
Every poor start just makes Cashman lean more towards trying to get Cliff Lee...

Yeah I guess it can go either way. I just figure if Burnett doesn't have much he is still as good as Gaudin, so may as well save the pen. Can't really go wrong with either decision, or should I say can't really go right.

down 10-3..
this bullpen at times is just as bad as Aj burnett.... How in the world are we getting beat like this by a 27 win team and a hack pitcher than hasn't pitched in over a year... my lord.. just another pathetic performance...
1/2 game lead over boston and the rays... the yanks could and should have had a decent lead in first place.. instead we are going to sweat staying in first just through this series...

What the hell is going on with this team? Everyone is injured, no one can hit the ball and our pitchers seem to be about as effective as I would be out there. Can someone PLEASE tell me what is going on? Which pitchers are actually producing (both starters and bullpen)? Are we looking like making some trades any time soon?

What do you mean our pitchers? With the exception of Burnett, everyone in the rotation is throwing great. Bullpen is a problem, but it's like that with every other team in the league too. Quality bullpen pitchers are one of the hardest things to find, so it really isn't a surprise that they are under-performing even though it was a strength last year and coming into this year. If 1 or 2 of them can find their nitch and start performing like they should be (or if they make a deal at the deadline), then the bullpen goes from mediocre to great with Mo anchoring it.

We've been far from healthy ourselves. Boston is a good team, its not pathetic that they're in the race with us and Tampa. The three best records in MLB are in the AL east, so how can it be pathetic that the 3rd best team in baseball is close to us? Ortiz has really bounced back, Pedroia/Youk/VMart are doing their thing, and they are getting insane production from Beltre...and Buchholz is putting up cy young numbers.
