Another potentially tough series.. good way to start the series... great pitching by cc for 8 innings and then Mo comes in and strikes out the side in the 9th... great way to start..

:onfire:

I'm almost convinced A-Rod toys with pitchers. Striking out his first time up and then just destroying Padilla in the 6th. That's one way to answer Torre's criticism.

yea, I think he does... he crushed that pitch.. manny didn't even move in the outfield.. LOL.. A-rod looks to be swinging the bat much better.. we can really go on a nice run if that happens. especially with cano still hot...

And Burnetts struggles continue. At 55 pitches his ball to strike ratio is 26-29. That's terrible, he needs to pick it up.

AJ is exclusively a two-pitch pitcher (fastball/curveball) so he needs both pitches working to be successful. He doesn't have a put-away pitch against lefties(change-up or cutter).

I like AJ hes A good Guy, but i think two pitch pitchers with below average control. they belong in the bullpen.

burnett has been horrible of late.... we are going to take a loss today and even with the rays and sox winning, we still have a lead in the east. 2 games and the best record in baseball... get a win sunday and we take this series on the road....

Hitting is about the confidence that it feeds off pitching. Ever notice the run production and focus of the hitters are drastically different from CC Sabbathia, Philip Hughes, and Pettitte vs Aj Burnett.

So before you chap Jeter, hey look baseball is the sport where if you fail SEVEN out of TEN TRIES is a success. So curb your enthusiasm to pre roid days where .285 is a very respectable average.

this is a joke.. pettite is throwing the ball all over the field.. giving up runs without a hit.. just ridiculous... he and a-rod need to go back to spring training fielding..

Now, 5-2 Dodgers..let's hold off on that L for just a few more innings. It's ridiculous to think a 39 year old pitcher won't have hiccups but now, we see the importance of Philip Hughes. The REAL question is, can the Yankees fight off the Sox with AJ Burnett struggling badly, JAvier Vasquez a total wild card?

where are we getting these scrub young guys from? collin curtis top of the 8th gets ahead in the count 3-0 and swings at the next pitch.. which was outside and away and tries to pull the friggin ball and grounds out weakly to second base... for christ sakes!!

red sox will cool off.. Yanks need to do something about burnett... CC is on fire, Hughes is still pitching well, andy well, javy made a turnaround... burnett is killing us.. it is hard to go on long winning streaks when he is spotting teams 5 runs during his starts...

we should have won this series..
