Yankees @ Toronto

Post#1 » by Wade2k6 » Fri Jul 2, 2010 7:15 pm

I never liked Eiland at all, but it's obvious Burnett is very comfortable with him. Goes out and throws 6.2 innings and doesn't give up a run. Now it's up to the bullpen to close the game out. This game should be over right now. Can't have the bases loaded with 0 outs with A-Rod, Cano, Posada up and not get a run.

all I have to say is this bullpen and offense stinks.. joba can't do his job.. he gives up a run every game.. robertson needs another pitch, and park stinks.. they let the floodgates open in extra innings after mo was gone.. what a friggin joke!!!!!!!!!

I'm praying for timely returns by Aceves and Mitre leading to Park and Logan being tossed out on their asses. And as talented as Joba is, his appearances are pretty much a crapshoot at this point. I still think the pen will be ok in the long run but it's certainly disturbing.

(As an aside, I can't believe I just said I'm praying for Sergio Mitre to get healthy.)

I agree, aceves was huge to our pen, he was good and a workhorse... joba has a ton of talent, but he plays around with his other pitches too much. I would use that 98mph fastball to pound the inside, outside and use that filthy hook he has as an out pitch ahead in the count.... anyway, this was a dissapointing loss......

Would it shock you if Joba was part of a package traded for Cliff Lee and some bullpen help right now? I wouldn't. He's looked nothing like the set up guy two seasons ago. Maybe he was just lightning in a bottle? Who knows. I do know you can't have enough pitching.

THAT SAID....Yes, the Yanks are DESPERATELY needing a #2 hitter like Carl Crawford...I mean, this offense is getting shutdown too often.

It wasn't lightning in a bottle. I just have no idea how a guy can throw 94-95 consistently as a starter and 98-99 as a reliever then just lose 4-5 MPH within 2 years. It makes no sense.

I'm surprised we aren't hearing complaints that they only scored in 1 inning and not the other 8 lol.

Well... it WAS pathetic.. I mean only 1 inning.. I guess we only pay these guys to score in an inning nowadays.

/sarcasm

...and the fact that I have to put sarcasm at the end for people to know that I'm actually joking... is quite sad.

Followed by Swisher and Teixeira getting thrown out at the plate for outs 2 and 3 of the 5th inning...

Robbie Thompson better get his butt fired after the game today. Yankees should have had 2nd and 3rd no outs for Arod then Cano. This dope is sending Swisher home after Swisher stopped running.

Granderson 0-5, .226 on the season. The guy needs to pick it up.
