Put Swish Back Into the 2 Hole.

Post#1 » by Mecca » Sat Jul 31, 2010 11:57 pm

Swish was having a career year this year, and he was really gelling with the lineup. Putting Berkman 2nd isn't a good idea, as he hasn't been hitting for average this year, and he's having a down year.

Jeter
Swish
Mark
A-Rod
Cano
Berkman
Granderson
Posada
Gardner

That is an intimidating lineup.....

I think Berkman makes more sense at the 2 hole. Swisher gives Cano protection so teams have to pitch to him.

No way. Like KLN said, berkman isn't hitting for avg this year, and he clogs the base paths. Not saying Swish is a speedster, but he has a great eye and draws walks. Robbie doesn't need protection. Look at the numbers he's putting up without Swish in the six hole.

What they need from the #2 hole is a player to get on base. Berkman, as poor as he's been hitting compared to previous years, still has a .367 on base percentage. Swisher has a .371 on base percentage. Now I realize Swisher has been driving in more runs and has been more productive then Berkman, but I think Swisher can just as productive from the #6 hole and give Cano better protection then Posada has this year.
