No matter what the outcome of this game is, watching Javy throw back-to-back 65 mph curves to Beltre has made my day.

I can't decide which player the Yankees brought in this summer is the worst, Vasquez or Granderson.

Wait, almost forgot Nick Johnson.

I don't really have any problems with Vazquez, he was brought in to be the 5th starter and thats what he has been.

Granderson however, has been bad...his fielding is his saving grace.

Johnson is so irrelevant I almost don't even count him as an acquisition.

Oh how QUICKLY we turn on players in NYC. Was it not in the first month of the season that every one was loving Granderson?

I'm comfortable with Granderson. Sure he hasn't found his swing since pulling his groin but the Yanks outfield has never looked better defensively especially cutting off in the gap.

As for Vasquez, is anyone really surprised he got bombed by the Red Sox? He is as advertised in the AL. A guy who can be easily gotten to when hitters fight him off and wait for him to throw inside. Vasquez doesn't have that inside pitch that cuts and POW! 4+ ERA.

The Yanks will be fine IF....Pettitte has just as good a second half as he had a first half, Hughes continues to roll...Anything AJ or Vasquez can add is gravy.

Today, CC needs a good game. I believe he lost his last couple decisions right?

I don't dislike Granderson, but its kind of hard to argue that he has been anything but a disappointment. He hasn't hurt the team since they still have the best record in baseball so nobody really cares or has noticed, but he has still been bad.

Its not like he has this amazing track record of success for the Yanks, so I don't see how its turning on him. Its telling it like it is.

Strange numbers on Granderson this season. He's seeing about 4.1 pitches per PA, which is very good but he's only walking in 8.7% of his PAs which is decidedly mediocre and considerably lower than what he's done over his last two seasons. However, you can live with him as your starting CF because his defensive value offsets below-average offensive production and his excellent LD% and the considerable gap between his career BABIP and what he's posted this season make me think that he's been hurt by some bad luck on batted balls.

Disappointing? Yes. But I'd like to see what he does next season before I write the deal off as a bad one.

BTW...Sabathia so far today: 7 IP, 2 ER, 89 pitches so he'll be back out for the 8th and he's completely shut down Boston since the Yankees came back to tie in the 2nd.

Remember at the beginning of last season when people were saying he wasn't an ace, couldn't be a stopper, and was a foolish, short-sighted signing? Yeah...

The trade won't be a bad one unless Austin Jackson turns into a stud, regardless of what Granderson does. And so far, Jackson has been miserable outside of an unrealistic BABIP through the first 1-2 months.

Maybe so but Berkman can also work a pitch count, an underrated skill that doesn't show up on stat sheets. It doesn't explain why Alex's home run totals are down horribly or why he has been anemic as late. Sure, it might be due to the pressure of hitting #600 but his average is disturbing as is Teixiera's.

Have you seen the numbers Morrow has put up so far today? Insane. If he can figure out how to throw strikes with consistency, an already solid Toronto rotation is going to become an absolute force.

No question. The Jays are a scrappy team. The Rays were foolish to overlook them. This is why baseball is the only sport where the regular season is everything. The Rays thought to themselves that they were going to pull ahead in the division. Not so fast. Now they are 2 in the loss column if the Yanks can get win tonight.

i really dont know why joba is still on the big league team, he needs to go down to minors and get sorted out

With Berkman, you have 3 switch hitters to throw at Lester. Sure he's tough but Hughes gives the Yanks a fighting chance.

The reason why Joba is not in the minors is due to this is what he is. People gave him too much credit cause of the way he caught fire but baseball is not a sprint but a marathon sport. Ask Beckett who just signed that extension. Look for Boston to dump his contract in the near future.
