Yanks @ Rangers

Post#1 » by Dr. Detfink » Thu Sep 9, 2010 10:26 am

Could be the toughest road trip for the Yanks. With stops in Texas, Tampa, and Baltimore. Since the Yanks are skipping Hughes and Pettitte, Vasquez, AJ Burnett, and Dustin "Sugar Shane" Mosley will have to tow the line.

Definitely hope the Yanks brought their bats to the stadium....

Well, Vasquez once again can't last past 5 innings. What's wrong with this guy? But the real question is why Girardi went Robertson, Wood, Joba? Wasn't Robertson the 8th inning guy? It cost them...and now Hughes has to come out of the pen.

what a horrible loss, taxed the pen, had to use mo for 2 innings, and still lost

Yankees lost to the umpires. What a horrible performance by the whole crew. They should all be fined/suspended.

Gardner had a 3-1 count with the bases loaded. Next pitch was ball 4 but called strike 2. He struck out on the next pitch. That would have scored a Yankees run.

Kinsler "stolen" base of second. He was out by a mile. That lead to a Rangers run.

There were a ton of other calls. Yankees got f'ed over big time.

Umps I never blame...the bottom line is, the Yanks stranded EIGHTEEN guys on base.

I am still bothered by Girardi flop flopping his pen. WHY!?!?! Robertson is the 8th, Wood is the 7th, and Joba is...well, Joba.

So what does Joe do? He puts in Robertson first, Wood, and then Joba gets his slider crushed. If Joe was going to bring Hughes out of the pen, the Eighth was the right time.

If this wasn't Sept, I wouldn't mind if he tinkered. It's a HUGE game between first place teams, WHY?!?!

Tough loss. Certainly Gaudin throwing a fat one to the ONE batter, the Yanks shouldn't be pitching is beyond me. With Gaudin on the mound, he had no business trying to sneak one past Cruz. That was a huge loss because now the Yanks have AJ Burnett.

Big start of AJ's career as a Yankee and the bats better come alive this time...

So you question Clueless Joe 2.0 about the bullpen.

how about the fact that Jeter is allowed to stay at the top of the lineup. 1st or 2nd every single night.

1-7 last night. 0-2 with RISP.

Whole world but Clueless Joe 2.0 knows he sucks.

I wish King George were still alive with all of his marbles. Clueless Joe 2.0 should have been fired on the spot for the use of the bullpen last night. How many games do I have to watch Joba the fatso blow in the 8th?

Look, we can argue over semantics regarding the use of the pen but the bottom line is AJ Burnett and Javier Vasquez can't give anything more than 4-5 innings a start. Right now, the Yanks have used the bullpen like a crutch. The pen was bound to cave.

As for disciplining Jeter for struggling by moving him down in the order. That's a horrible idea because the NY media will be all over that. Thus, even more pressure will be on the Yanks. Second season, anything can happen.

Goddamit. I knew this would happen. After using Mo for two innings, it came back to bite us in the ass.

So are we still confident that the Yanks don't need to win the division and can go on the road whether it be in the new Twins park or Texas and come out a winner in 5 games plus going to tampa on the road again, in a best of seven?

By all means please delay and baby Pettitte...If memory serves, Yanks did the same **** before with Pettitte and when he started against the Angels they wiped the floor with him.

Tomorrow is not guaranteed gentlemen. Wins today matter.

Also lost in the shuffle is no blame placed on Cashman. Vasquez and Burnett are Cashman's boys so before we through stones in a glass house keep in mind, Cashman likes these guys who present well like Carl Pavano.

You can thank the Umpiring Crew again for tonights Loss. Rivera wouldn't have been taxed if the Umpiring crew didn't F the Yankees over without lube 4000 times on Friday.

Yankees can win road games in the playoffs. 1996 they were 8-0 on the road. 1998 they were 5-1. 1999 they were 5-1, 2000 they were like 6-3? I think. 2001, they won big games in Oakland after being down 0-2, won the first two against the 116 win Mariners team to set the tone for the ALCS. 2009 they won 2 out of 3 in Philly, couple against the Angels and 1 against the Twins.

I do not want to Jinx the Yankees. But they haven't lost a road game in the Playoffs to the Rangers or Twins. Twins 2003, 2004, 2009. Rangers 1996, 1998, 1999. 5-0 at the Twins, 4-0 at Arlington.

Someone, anyone, explain to me why a bunt was called on a 3-0 count? ON A 3-0 COUNT. Clueless Joe 2.0, pack your f'ing bags and go to the Cubs. And if it weren't Joe but Cisco who made that call, BENCH HIM FOR THE NEXT WEEK and Joe pack your bags to Chicago.

How stupid can you be to bunt on a 3-0 count? OMFG!

Cliff Lee is once again giving the Yanks fits. No hitter through six. Yanks pitching holding up so far.

and as soon as we get a lead, we give it right back up next inning... Just frustrating how we get owned by some bum teams.. toronto, one dimensional team, can hit, but can't pitch and they beat us.. the rangers are a joke and we struggle with them.... just not the way to play for a team defending a title..

Our bullpen is taxed because we have two big money starters who stink right now.. vasquez and burnett...

who the heck is catching today? every time texas gets on base, the guy is automatically stealing second.. every time.. might as well go straight to second from home plate!!!!!!!!

down 4-1.. the wheels have come off..... later yall..

this team is a first round victim, if they don't get some pitching going.... end of story..

Boy, I wouldn't feel confident AT ALL on the road with this Yankee team. Who gives a f*ck about Hughes stats or Pettitte. Right now, the entire team seems out of funk.

Heed the words of Reggie Jackson when the Yanks lost to the Dodgers in the WS, "Don't say that. Don't say we own them. There is such a thing as going to the well one too many times..."

This is baseball, it can go any way in a 5 game set. Don't underestimate the Twins. Unless A-rod and Tex had an unbelievable post season in extra innings that series could have easily gone the other way. Keep in mind, Justin Morneau was NOT in that series and yet, the Twins took the Yanks deep into extra innings.

Please note, Jeter got the Yanks on the board. Now where's the rest of the team? Hmm...suddenly no anti-Jeter comments? Oh that's right we gotta sit A-rod down much how the Dodgers babied Manny. How is this guy's body going to perform in the playoffs? Anyone worried? Cause right now, Lance Berkman had the best series in Texas.

Now, here's another question...um, Posada behind the plate? Hmm...

Lots of worries Yankee fans, and keep in mind the Yanks have 7 more games against Tampa. Brutal.
