Yanks @ Rays: Make a statement

After being embarrassed in Texas, the Yanks travel to Florida and face the upstart Rays. Yanks need to make a statement, they need to send a message that they are the defending champs. They'll send their ace CC to the mound followed by the Champagne Super Nova, and Young King Philip. Can the Yanks create some breathing room? Can they get it together to be the Yankees? We'll find out.

I'm usually not one that blames the coach for every single thing that goes wrong because it's easy to say something is a bad decision in hindsight, but why the **** was Gaudin in the game in the 10th? I mean jeez, leave Logan in the game if anything. It didn't wind up hurting the Yankees, but it just a ridiculous decision by Girardi.

I just don't understand this guy sometimes. You have Robertson and Chamberlain sitting on the bench and you decide to throw Mitre?

Girardi is a disgrace... let the Cubs take him. He is just as bad a manager as Torre, just in different and equally annoying ways,..

Y'see Joe wasted the pen against Texas where Joba and Robertson both got touched up. Hence, he's gotta save them because he doesn't know how far Nova will go or Hughes.
I thought the Yanks pitched fine. Sure, losing in the 11th stings on a walk off but look at the line up, how's the Yanks offense doing? I understand David Price is the real deal but y'know this is going on for several days...

You win today, you worry about tommorow tommorow. Hell, even if Robertson and Joba were unavailable, the greatest closer in the history was certainly available. You used your two worst relievers in a critical series on the road.
We give Joe one offer this offseason. If he doesn't like it, he can go fly a kite.

That isn't the point, the Rays offense played equally as bad. There is just no reason to use your 2 worst relievers in the 10th and 11th inning of a critical game after your team just got swept. There's no reason to bunt Granderson when he has a 2-0 count and Collin Curtis behind him.
He was lucky to get out of the 10th inning with Gaudin pitching, it's inexcusable to use Mitre to pitch the 11th.

RIGHT. Cause Joe used his best relievers in the first two games in Texas not just for one game but TWO out of the last three games and where did it get him? BOTH Losses.
He even used Mariano for 2 innings and brought Hughes out of the pen. Made NO difference.
So don't get all BUTT HURT cause in the 11th inning he didn't go back AGAIN to the well because he did what every one wanted and he couldn't get ONE win in Texas and today he wasn't either because right now, the Yanks offense is not looking Yankee-esque PLAIN and SIMPLE.
When was A-Rod or Tex going to get a hit in the 12th? The 15th? Who knew...

So Mark Teixiera has been playing with a broken toe. Yanks have lost seven of eight.

As a Rays fan, I too was surprised to see Mitre in the 11th.

Fantastic catch by Curtis Granderson in the gap and Robertson's fist pump showed.
Not a great win after being 6-0 but sometimes ugly wins are just as important because it's being taken to the edge that a team truly learns about themselves.
Interesting the Twins are one game behind for best record in the AL. What an exhausting season.

Alright, so we all know Hughes' road stats are better than his home stats. Well, the Rays just touched him up in the 5th. 2-1 Rays. After the Yanks draw 90+ pitches out of Big Game James...only 1 run.

We've since changed his name to James "9-Hit" Shields.
