Rays @ Yanks: hardcore title on the line

Post#1 » by Dr. Detfink » Mon Sep 20, 2010 12:57 pm

After a thrilling 3 game set in Tampa where every game was determined by one run, the Yanks host the upstart Rays at Yankee stadium. Call it a feeling but I really believe the AL East will be determined after this 4 game set.

With Tex nursing a broken toe, Lance Berkman has provided some tough at bats. I think he's way more comfortable than he was. Ultimately, Cano and A-Rod have to come up big w/ RISP.

Now every ome bitches about Jeter because to the casual fan, he doesn't jerk them off like home runs and all these gaudy stats of bull in the steroid era. Welcome to my generation where .260-.266 for a 36 year old athlete who plays every day is fine.

The real problem is the bottom of the order. Can Curtis still in his peak years, provide the pop during this important series? What unsung hero will step up?

Keep an eye out for Evan Longoria, the best players in the majors today who isn't named Albert Pujols.

I agree. Why risk him taking an off balance hack and injuring himself further?

nova looks like cy young for 5 innings and then implodes... I mean no where near the strike zone...

boone logan and gaudin? lord please!!

And again, lance berkman with a 3-1 pitch and bases loaded swings at a pitch up and in.... this guy has been a bum since he has been here in these situations.. could have easily walked and driven in another run.. He has been a rally killer...

granderson is really heating up... he has 21 homers even after misssing a ton of games.... if he continues this into the postseason, we are going to be extremely tough to beat..

good win for the yankees.. mo struggles a bit in the 9th, but I mean, he is breaking bats and guys are blooping hits... jeez..

the rays are an odd team.. a team full of .230 and .202 hitters and they seem to get on base in some of the oddest circumstances... go figure..

I want a sweep...

You can tell guys are playing hurt or tired. Tex's foot is bugging him at the plate. The pen didn't look sharp at all but a win is a win.

Who's pitching tomorrow, AJ?

The way the Rays starters have pitched lately (other than Price) the Yankees probably will sweep.

Rays don't have enough firepower to survive 5-6 runs given up by their starters.

Hughes definitely looks better than he did on the road in Tampa. However, his pitch count is up. 87 pitches ovef 5 innings

true, but just like tonight, other than the HR by joyce, the rays scored runs on bloops and dribblers.. example, that hit crawford got to cut the lead to 5-3.. vazquez jammed him and he bloops a cheap hit.. that team is full of .202 and .230 hitters that seems to just get bleeders vs the yankees.. LOL

Girardi said next week, Tex is getting some time off. He's in a 3 for 20 slump. I think after the Tampa series to give it up to him.

Great win. Yanks jumped all over Big Game James...now, the WILD THING AJ Burnett takes the mound. Should be a killer before CC takes the mound in another classic matchup against David Price.
