Yanks Shipping up to Boston

Looks like game 1 is postponed. The Baseball gods must be looking out for the Yanks because I can't believe Cashman and Girardi were going to march out the team with Andy Pettitte's balky back. Andy goes down again, you can forget about even sniffing defending the WS title.

Meanwhile the Royals are giving the Rays hell. The Yanks have every opportunity to win the division IF they get some length out of their starters.

Who should they go with?

Toronto just hit a 3 run HR to give them a 6-2 lead in the 8th. Rays losing 7-0 after the 8th. Looks like the Yankees can gain ground tonight without even playing a game.

Yankees still have to finish one game ahead for the Rays since the Rays own the tiebreaker.

Neither team wants to win the division.

I understand that, but with Rays and Minnesota losing it gives the Yankees more breathing room.

So pretty much, if the Yankees and Rays lose out then the Rays win division. If the Yankees win 2 of their final 3 games and the Rays split their remaining 2 games then NY will get HF throughout. Minnesota pretty much needs to win out and have NY/TAM lose out to have home-field throughout. NY has the upper-hand and control their own destiny, if they win out they clinch home-field throughout. If they win both of todays games and the Rays lose today, they will have home-field.

It's important to win the DH for several reasons. First, if we win both games NY looks in much better shape to clinch home-field, which is important b/c Minnesota and TEX are much better at home then they are playing on the road. Second, it will most likely mean Burnett and Pettite both pitched well enough to have NY in position to win, which is important b/c we want them having confidence going into the PS (especially Burnett).

He's settled down since then. Adjust ERA when pitching @ Fenway. Plus, 6Ks ain't all bad.

Hughes gets his 18th win in extra innings. Yankees maintain their own destiny for the playoffs. Magic number of 2 with 2 games left to be played and half to finish above the Rays for the Division and HFA.

HARD luck loss last night, pretty much the Yanks need a performance from Dustin "Sugar Shane" Mosley AND help from KC.

Clueless Joe 2.0 punts another game. Putting Royce Ring yet again in a game with huge playoff implications.

Looks like it's off to Minny for game 1..

With the way this team has been playing the last 2 freakin months, im having doubts on how far they can go this year..they've been a pretty mediocre road team this year. Lets just hope they can turn it up at the right time.

Posada is still one of the top 5 hitting catchers in baseball and has 1 more year left.

Montero should be up by May 2011. Romine could be ready for MLB at some point next year.

Cisco is the backup for next year and the #3 if Romine or Montero gets called up.
