AL Playoff: Yanks @ Minny-soda

It all begins on Weds. CC Sabbathia was rested against the Red Sox for this moment. Last year, every game was a lot closer than any Yankee fan will care to admit. Robertson being a hero in pitching out of a bases loaded jam unscathed. This time, the Yanks will head to the north who stumbled down the block.

How do you think the Yanks will fare?

I go with Hughes in game 2 over Pettite. He is just a flat-out better and more comfortable pitcher on the road.

Plus 1. Hughes gave up a ton of homeruns at YS and the new stadium for the Twins is beyond Cavernous. Homeruns at YS would be fly balls in Minnesota.

Plus I would trust Andy more in game 3 if the series is tied 1-1.

Did Clueless Joe 2.0 announce the 25 man roster and rotation?

Kearns, BJ and VasSuck better be left off.

Girardi is going with 3 man rotation (as if anyone really thought he weren't). BJ is out of the rotation.

And Hughes pitches in game 3. Clueless Joe 2.0 strikes again.

So that if it goes to game 5, we are pitching Andy rather than Hughes. At least that is what I would guess.

I believe that Kearns will not onl make the playoff roster but could actually be starting in left (according to the NY Post).

Joe is going on Pettitte's guile for Game 5 over Hughes' lackluster appearance last post season. This is going to be a very rough series. You know Pavano gave the Yanks fits last year. Game 2 is going to be huge. Hughes will be fine unless you wanted AJ out there?

I think it'll be fine but the Yanks MUST hit...and Posada is going to get tested early and often.

Yanks in 5...

I'm going for Yankees in 4. I think they split in Minny and then win 2 in the bronx. I think game 2 with Pettitte is going to be one of his famous 5 2/3, 115 pitch, 1 run games. The one Michael Kay will wax poetic about how Pettitte had a "bend but not break" game. However, I think one of the guys in the bullpen is going to blow it and give up a run or two late. -Jitpal

I think we're quibbling over peanuts. I also think Girardi is pushing Hughes back to game 3 to give Him a little more rest after the innings he's logged in.

hughes has a knack of throwing that cutter, which gets clobbered at least once a game....twins stadium is bigger, so less chance of a hr

hes given up too many at home

You would really rather have Hughes in a potential game 5 over Andy Pettitte?

Couple of things. 1. Andy is coming back from an Injury. 2. Hughes sucks at home. 3. Andy has lost big games before in the past. I guess people forgot about game 5 against the Indians in 1997 when Andy spotted them 5 runs to start the game. How about game 6 against the DBacks in 2001. Did he even show up that game?

Why is Kearns starting in LF? So we can watch him strikeout 2-3 times with risp. Guy had 40 k's in 100 at bats with the Yankees.

So you're going to hold one game Pettitte pitched in 1997 against him in 2010 when he has more than made up for it since then? 2001 doesn't count, he was apparently tipping his pitches. -Jitpal
