This is what happens when you Overprice the Real Fans, you get a Billion Dollar morgue for a Stadum.
I'm gonna assume thats whats gonna happen to the Garden as well in the next few years, teams have no shame in jacking up the prices cause they know they can get away with it
PSL park in the Meadowlands is gonna have the same fate.

Dude, that happened to the Garden a long time ago I believe. Though it's hard for me to say conclusively since I can't afford tickets there.
I do get to see them when they come to Philly, though.
I agree with your point. A middle class family can't go to but a few baseball games (or any sporting event) a year, at best. The middle class is getting screwed. (Wake up and smell the coffee people. Oh yeah, and "man up." ... lol)

It certainly doesn't seem to have the spirit it used to have in October. I went to one ALCS game last season because my friend's dad works there and it was quiet as hell. There's nothing really intimidating about coming into the Bronx in October anymore and that's a sin.

it was embarassing how empty that section around homeplate and the dugouts were late in the game last night.

Energy is different...Magic is gone (though it was there last year)...and it just doesn't feel the same even when you're at the games. co-sign OP.

its a double edge sword
you need to have that to sustain a 200 mill payroll and continue to go after big $$$ players

i already put this in another thread but I sat legends 2 nights ago and this is absolutely correct. I'm a huge yankees fan and always have been but these people were just on their blackberries the entire time. A lot of people went into the buffet during the game and never came out as well.

**** ... thats why you got the YES network
I remember even in the dreaded 2004 game 7, Pedro came on in the 8th, 1 runner got one, the place started to shake, Pedro held his nerve cause it was a 8 run lead but you felt the tension.
The Cano Walk in the 8th , the Stadium used roar for every effing Ball, used to get on the Umps for Strikes right down the middle

Wait JUST Yankee stadium? Because NATIONALLY NFL ticket sales have dropped for the THIRD consecutive year. So let's not pretend ONLY Yankee stadium isn't respecting the recession.

I really wonder if some of you guys have even been to the stadium. There is a TON of crowd hanging out in the concourse, not in their seats, standing and screaming. The stadium is alive when you are there, it just doesn't translate over the tv. -Jitpal

You need to go. Don't even bother spending dough on the expensive tickets. Get something in the 400s and then never go there. You can chill in the concourse right behind home plate. You have to stand but hell, let's not forget you would have been doing that in your seat anyway. -Jitpal

I agree with Jitpal. Most of the seats in the stadium are pretty decent. I got right field bleacher seats right above the bullpen for the Rays-Yankees game in September and it was loud to me.

I have Been going to Yankee games for the last 15 seasons and the biggest problem at the new stadium is the inability to fill the lower sections. The yanks sacrificed home field advantage by creating price warfare.
At the new stadium, there is a ticket upgrade EVERY inning of every game to FILL that lower section. When you do that entertainment crap like museums, steak house, etc fans are doing every thing BUT seeing the ball game.
So sure, its fun cause my girlfriend and stepdaughter could care less about the Yanks and can walk around but for a baseball enthusiast, its a stadium more for the out of towner than it is for the generations of fans preceding them.
But that's a statement of the times, we don't want to be close to strangers we're a classist buy a space away from you society.
