to set up Mo? we know our SP blows, so we need to have a strong pen to balance it out
adding soriano would be a great addition to the pen
the cost? well there is plenty of $ to spend since lee turned us down
the pick? if i recall, isnt there a way to work around that where we just agree to a trade and send them a current prospect back?
thoughts?

1 year deal is the max I would do. Get the picks back next year. -Jitpal

It's a shame because with Mo's age, Soriano can spell closer.
Cash wants to use the draft to replace the aging cogs and no pick will be spared. Gotta admire his stubborness because he and Hal want to lower the payroll so the Yankees can increase their profit margins. Problem is, I am not THAT impressed with Cashman's drafting prowess.

I don't think this is that big of a problem... The fact that you aren't impressed with his drafts really doesn't mean much. We currently have the 5th ranked farm system in baseball so someone must be impressed. We also have players come up and contribute in the majors year in and year out. He must be doing something right between the draft and international signings.

I don't necessarily disagree with Cashman. The fact is, we could probably sign Fuentes and someone like Rauch for the price it would take to sign Soriano and spare the first round draft pick if we really wanted to.
