I love it. Some people will say its because he can opt out at the end of this year, but I don't think he will. The Yankees give him the best shot at 300 wins and I think losing this weight will help his overall longevity.

It's a Contract Year for CC
Plus You don't want him blowing out a Knee any time soon with all that weight

Re: CC has lost 30lbs!!
Once again, when every one was deep throating Cliff Lee...I was cautiously pointing out when the Yanks offer a big bag of $10s and $20s following by many zeroes the egos of every player on the team suddenly get a little damaged.
Now every player on the Yanks is going to test that "Our goal is to win the WS every year" mantra.
Look at what transpired during the Cliff Lee fiasco:
Jeter got cheeky with front office.
Mariano SERIOUSLY considered the Red Sox.
Pettitte laughed at the Yanks offer pre-Lee to come back, then retired after Lee said, "No thanks."
Cano hired Boras.
CC is looking to extort the Yanks by opting out (like A-Rod did).
All of us Yankee fans are entitled to cheer for our team but don't drink the Kool-Aid in the Post-George Steinbrenner era. This is NOT the same franchise. Its GM is giving the Obama message "We're being Fiscally responsible...and working on the farm system..." and at the same time selling out ridiculous money for hired guns. Doesn't sound like a lot of faith in the farm if you have to do THAT.
BUT there is HOPE:
I don't see Pettitte staying retired but basically waiting for the Yanks to stop watching Colon give up bombs and finally pony up that sum they gave Clemens to pitch a half season.
I do see the Yanks getting someone at the trade deadline like Chris Carpenter to help out especially since St. Louis will be giving Pujols 225M to keep him.
I do see the Yanks scrapping for wins in a very competitive East.
