My Pinstripe Plan

I'm new to this forum, and just trying to spark up some discussion. Obviously I am a Yankees fan, and this is my plan for what the Yankees should do. I'm not sure what your guys plans are, but feel free to post them here - as I hope you do.

For the most part, I'm not a Cashman fan or even a Girardi fan. However, I agree with them on their plan for the Yankees...patience.

Is there anything wrong with that? I don't see how there is. If you ask me, this has been the most exciting spring training in the way that we actually have players fighting for jobs. Well, 3 jobs. The players seem committed, and ready to win. They all sound very excited for the start of the new season, and I'm loving this underdog role to the Red Sox.

To get on to the point, the reason I think we need to have patience is because we don't know what could happen to start the season. Mark Teixeira always gets off to a slow start, what if he doesn't this year? What if he has a slow start, but it's nothing compared to last year? Same thing with CC. He had a significant weight loss, and seems ready to lead this Yankee team. What if CC pitches like he does for every month outside of April in April for once? Every time we doubt the EL CAP-EH-TON, he reminds us why he is Derek Jeter.

Basically what I'm saying is, our team for the most part underperformed outside of Brett Gardner, Nick Swisher (BA wise), Robby Cano (some what here. many people thought he was going to have a breakout year in the 5th hole, and he did just that), Phil Hughes.

Mark "TEXT MESSAGE" Teixeira isn't having his worst year of his career offensively outside of his rookie year again. Lets not forget he was 2nd in MVP his first year in pinstripes, and he could very well put up those stats again. Maybe not 39 HR's, but I think he he should be good for a .285 BA with 35/110 with an OBP around 38% again.

Derek "THE CAPTAIN" Jeter isn't having his worst year of his career, I don't care of old he is. Every time we doubt him, he comes back and plays at a high level. People forget he was 3rd in MVP voting 2 years ago. Ya, he has bad range - that's not going to change drastically again. But he's shown the commitment to get better offensively.

A-Rod isn't hitting .260 again. He hit .217 last year against lefties, that's unfathomable. Another Yankee ready for a bounce back year, losing weight over the summer via the popcorn diet.

Curtis Granderson. Lets not forget he was hurt, and still underperformed despite 25 HR's. I think Girardi should experiment with him at the #2 hole. His OBP was 39% hitting #2, OBP was 32% in the #7 and #8 spot - that's where he was placed the most. People forget how good he was down the stretch. He hit 14 HR's from August on in less PA's in significantly less PA's. Hitting him in the #2 hole makes a lot of sense when you look deep into it. I think he could be an important part of this team. We can separate the speed of Gardner and Granderson, give protection to Granderson with Tex/ARod/Cano behind him rather than Swisher who gets on base a lot more than Granderson. Not only that but Swisher can give Posada protection instead. Suddenly, Granderson can score from first on a Tex/A-Rod double while anyone else we slot into the 2 hole outside of Gardner and Granderson can't.

I can go on, but it's getting late. I'll just say we need to be patient and wait for a team with an ace to realize they're better off trading their ace to us for multiple pieces to get better rather than extend their stud for a ridiculous amount of money and hurt their team financially. I.E. Weaver and Liriano. However, don't trade Betances, ManBan, Montero, or Sanchez - even for either of those 2 SP's. We have a core four if you will coming up, lets watch them grow into studs rather than trade them for aces that might not even be good as them!
