ESPN confounds me. So many have dismissed the defending champion Giants whose pitching is younger, Buster Posey is headed for a bust out year. I don't hold it against Cliff Lee for going to Philly but y'know the Phillies are older than the Yanks at several key positions. So let's not give them the WS crown just yet.

The other prediction was er, predictable. ESPN Loves, LOVES the Red Sox. Connecticut is a part of the New England states. So obviously the most followed man after hours, Carl Crawford and Adrian Gonzalez...spending all that money is going to get a lot of recognition.

That said, I still like the Yankees chances. Today was a solid start against Verlander who pitched well enough to win but didn't. Phil Captain'n'Coke imploded and Joba had a flawless 7th. Burnett vs Penny should be a no-contest but this is Burnett...flip coin and see what you get.

That goes without saying BUT the Yanks can ill afford to waste the bullpen if the #4 or #5 can't go at least 6-7 innings. That's why Cashman thought Vasquez would be the ideal #5 cause of the innings he locked but he struggled badly at times, combined with AJ's collapse, Andy's injury...

The litmus acid test will be how AJ, Nova, and Colon/Garcia save the pen as it goes deeper into the season. Saturday, the game starts now.

I was at the game. All you need to know is, AJ gave up a double to Cabrera then proceeded to strike out the side. I think his divorce that dragged through last season is behind him.

Hughes is going to have to up his game.. He had no velocity and no movement.. pretty much putting the ball on a Tee for old fat boy cabrera from detroit....

we are going to need hughes to start pitching to his potential or move him in a trade for another front line starter by the deadline.. I know this was his first outing, but I am very dissapointed in what I saw...

From section 226 Row 9 Seat 3, I thought it was a decent crowd but the Yanks scored in bunches so it's kind of hard to get into a game after these monster hits.

Obnoxious college kids from Michigan State, the Tigers were getting pasted and they'd sound off "Let's Go Tigers!" just to get a rise, then cower "We're originally from NYC..." Like HUH? It gets better. This white bitch barely 21, taking advantage of her dad who bought 11 tickets @$90 a piece (for family and his daughter's friends) and an open tab. Well, blondie bought drinks for her under aged friends and when the bartender caught wind, she almost got her dad in serious trouble. If her under aged friends didn't duck out, they would have been caught boozing it up. Nice way to thank dad...

I was also at Sunday's game. Hughes just didn't have any command, Colon tested positive for bacon, and the offense couldn't score enough. Bottom line, don't care what offense you have, if you give up 9 runs you're not going to win too many games. It's ok, King Philip will bounce back.

2 out of 3 works for me.

Don't blame the fans, it's extortion for tickets.
