While I enjoy the recent slide of the Red Sox, I am no fool. This team has too much firepower not to compete especially at home. They're more desperate now than ever...and it wouldn't surprise me if the following scenarios unfold:
Most likely: Boston takes two out of three from the Yankees. ESPN writers sigh relief. Lions/Red Sox fan Dana Jacobson who was suspended for boozing it up at the Mike & Mike roast gets a sympathy f*ck from the water cooler maintenance man. All is right in the world of the Red Sox nation.
Potential: Red Sox sweep. Every thing is forgotten about the first two series. Pressure is flipped on the Yankees. Fans freak out. NY journalists finally can sell a story. Dana Jacobson gets laid in the office by an excutive.
Improbable but possible: Yanks come out with Hughes rebounding or Nova stealing one, and CC gets his first win...as the opt iut clause becomes more of a reality with the club.
Only in my dreams: the Yanks sweep. It's a critical blow to the Sawx psyche. They never threaten the Yanks again this year.
Your thoughts...

Second start in a row Hughes looks terrible. Leaving pitches over the middle of the plate when your throwing 89-90 MPH isn't going to cut it.

Hughes is trash.
Even if he gets his velocity back, he's not going to make it if he keeps being so one dimensional.

When the weather warms up, so will Hughes velocity. Any pitcher pitching in Fenway is going to get an ER adjustment. Just gotta hope the offense can chase Lackey. Go Yanks!

He's definitely not as bad as he looks right now but I can't trust him in the playoffs until he learns to pitch smart.
The fact that we are still in this game shows just how mediocre the Sox are.

Guys there are 155 games left before we even sniff the playoffs...let's pace ourselves before jumping all over a pitcher.

Fenway is such a hitter's park. No lead is safe!

On the bright side, Colon looks very good. If it weren't for Teixera's error it'd be a tie game right now.

I was just going to say that, Feliciano needs to come back soon. The guy was garbage last year during September and the playoffs.

Joel Sherman just tweeted that Logan had faced 5 LH's prior to Ellsbury.. and in those 5 batters, three had hits and the other 2 were walked.. ''lefty specialist''.. suuure.

Overrated Yankee prospect in history doesn't win 19 games...sorry. Let's WAIT till weather warms up and his velocity returns before we sell the house...
Guys, Fenway is no joke to pitch. It's a hitters park. Nova did FINE. Why don't you point the finger at Cano for ruining a double play. That led to 3 Red Sox runs. if you're going to point the finger, let's be FAIR. Spread it around...it's a TEAM game.
Yanks are looking good and if CC turns in a gem...two out of three at Fenway is a gift.

No argument here. Finally the Yanks invested in some quality back ups without overspending on offense. Now, the Yanks have options vs. Last season where guys were playing hurt all the time. Over 162 games it's important to stay fresh during a marathon.

good underrated signings.. You forget that russel martin was an allstar catcher and still pretty young..

Martin preferred the Red Sox first but Theo didn't think he'd last so that gave leverage to Cashman. Chavez was the bigger surprise. I knew he'd be good defensive bench guy but his offense raised a brow today.
