NY Yanks (9-5) @ Toronto MapleJays (7-9)

Post#1 » by Dr. Detfink » Mon Apr 18, 2011 10:59 pm

If this was any other sport, you'd be extremely pleased that the Yankees are the only team in the AL East with an above .500 record. With 147 games left in the season, there's very little brash talk between teams. Don't look now but the Boston Red Sox are only 5 games behind after an atrocious start.

Once again, another test for AJ Burnett. As his last 3 starts, AJ is loosening up as he goes deeper and deeper into games. With this divorce behind him, I expect Burnett to have another solid start.

Yanks offense will see Kyle Drabek (Pirates Doug Drabek's son) who is supposed to be a super star. So far he's looking great. Without A-Rod, will the Yanks knock him out?

Then there's Cecil (1-1) vs. Colon (0-1) in a strang two game set.

Should be another barometer reading for the '11Yanks.

Gardner needs to be able to get a better bunt down, it's inexcusable to not move the runner to 3rd.

He's been awful so far this year. Hopefully he's able to get it going soon because he was a weapon on the bases last year.

yanks are going to be in a bind....i dont think monteros bat is as tradeable as thought b4...this lineup doesnt have the same ring to it without arod in it, montero can beef that up

but even if you want to trade him, i dont see any pitcher available to let him go (ie felix, johnson, etc), and he obviously isnt worth to trade for guys like carpenter, etc

but this team needs SP badly, maybe 2 of them

Guys, I love how a rare blown save by Rivera triggers this worry and doubt on the team offense. Remember it's April. Keep in mind there was no A-Rod. In every loss the Yanks were in the game till the end. That's as good a sign as any.

As for Gardner, I said last season he was made to look good cause of that line up. Guys are pitching to him now. It shows. Waiting for Andruw Jones to take his spot.

That's all you need. Get 10 wins from Colon as Hughes rests his arm, you're stoked.
