NY Yankees (17-12) vs Texas Rangers (17-14)* Fear Itself?

* =Please note, the Rangers record is dependent upon the outcome of the late game EST vs. Seattle Mariners.
After dropping their second road series and second over all, the NY Yankees take their cold bats to much warmer Texas Rangers at a time when early May has not been so forgiving. From the shutdown of Philip Hughes, Jeter's injury/Girardi's resting, Mo's 2 blown saves, Garcia coming back to Earth, and most recently Chavez's broken toe...these humanized Yanks face the very team that 86-ed them out of the ALCS.
If you vividly remember as I do, The Yanks pitching and offense completely nose dived except Robinson Cano. I'm sure the Texas front office will shut up this time as neither team is chasing after a big FA. I wanted a hitter to boost the outfield production, every one else wanted Cliff jerk-off Lee who threw the money back in Brian "the weasel" Cashman & Randy "deep throat" Levine. Two **** who are famous for letting closest door negotiations leak or blaming the Mets for their screw ups.
That was then, this is now...with Tampa BREATHING down the Yanks backs, this is one of those acid litmus tests that is going to test where these Yanks are...but also their fans.
I wonder...if we ROLLED back the clocks to 2009 when the Yanks lost their first EIGHT straight to the Boston Red Sox if the fan base was in as much panic as they are today. We all know what happened in 2009, in the second half, this team picked itself up and won the WS.
Can the Yanks pick themselves up and win the World Series? There's not reason not to think they can't. So relax and enjoy the game.
Match ups:
Nova (2-2) Harrison (3-3): How long can Nova continue to perform at a competitive level?
Colon (2-1) Holland (3-1): Biggest test as Rangers feast on hard throwers.
Sabathia (2-2) Ogando (3-0): Got no problems with CC opting out, just ain't seeing him in big spots.
Outlook: I think the Yanks will somehow take 2 of 3. It won't be pretty. But it'll be there.

nova is going tomorrow? that'll be a loss
btw, the 09 team had damon and matsui, lost its mojo once they left
this team needs a power OF, but those are easier to find on the FA market....my problem with Cash is the lack of SP, the team hasnt developed one in 10 years. + if you look at all the SP traded, haren, grienke, lee, halladay, etc...it takes 2-4 legit prospects to get one of them, that package is not overpaying its market value....so I dont want to see him pull out b/c he is in love with prospects and wont give up 2-4 of them.

The problem is, no one wants to trade with the Yankees. If the Yanks want Liriano or Felix, the teams are not going to play fair but rather try to rape their farm system of every thing because other franchises are less of a threat to compete.
Through 5 innings, Ivan Nova has pitched beautifully. Can't ask for anything more against a potent Texas Offense. Derek Jeter contributed to both scores with a hit and a throwing error. Can Yanks hold the Texans back for three more innings to get to the sandman?

Beautiful anticipation by Cano for the Double play! 9 outs from the W. 6 Outs till the Sandman.
Curtis Granderson CRUSHES his second home run. 10 HRs leads the Yanks with .274 avg. Solid slugging numbers.

Ivan Nova reading Pharmcat's comments responds with, "A loss? @#$#%...Oh really cat? Not on MY watch and deals a shut out through 7 innings..."

Call me a skeptic but every Colon start is must see TV because he hasn't pitched like this in 5 yrs. Until a pee cup comes back positive, I look forward to every start.

Well, I Hate, HATE agreeing with Mchael Kay but the ONLY reason why Posada is in the line up is due to his power. This team is relying too much on the home run and you see it start to catch up with them.
I think Haren would be a nice addition for the right price. I prefer the Yanks make the deal at the deadline so teams will come back to planet earth and trade properly. Yanks need 1-2 guys who hit for average or can just get on base.
One thing's for sure, the injury to Chavez was big because you could rest A-rod and still not fall off too much. I think how Joe rests his guys will be the major factor down the stretch.

Texas Rangers are very aggressive fastball hitters and I think they were hoping Colon would come after them. Yanks made it a game though...Oh, that lead over Tampa just shaved to 1 loss...
I'm a glass half full kind of guy. Let's look at the Yanks losses:
April 3rd 7-10 Detroit
April 5th 4-5 F/10 Twins
April 8th 6-9 in Boston
April 10th 0-4 in Boston
April 15th 3-5 Texas
April 19th 5-6 Toronto
April 25th 0-2 White Sox
April 26th 2-3 White Sox
April 29th 3-5 Toronto
May 3rd 2-4 @Detroit
May 4th 0-4
May 5th 3-6
May 7th 5-7 @ Texas
Outside of two losses, the Yanks have been in every game to the end. Meaning, this team doesn't need an overhaul but just ONE hitter to be the spark plug. That's doable this season. So Cashman if you're reading this, no need to panic but to monitor one guy to fit in and keep the inning going.

haha, that was vintage jeter. He crushed both of those balls, and cerveli came up with a big grand slam..
CC didn't have his best stuff, but got the win.
Gardner coming around as well..

Hopefully this carries over because after the KC series, the Yanks are back home against Boston.
