Yanks @ WKRP Cincinnati Reds

Great American Ball Park packs a punch as fly ball hitters often suffer but this Reds team has wisely invested in an arsenal of pitching that is starting to come around to complimenting its lethal hitting. Tonight, Ivan Nova faces a huge challenge battling that explosive Reds Offense. Meanwhile the Yankee hitters face Johnny Cueto ERA 1.68.
The 32 yr old virgin Gordon vs. Travis Wood
Garcia vs. Leake.
Should be very interesting.

Nice work by Nova getting out of that early jam. This whole early base runners thing is nice.

Yea, Nova has held up remarkably well so far as a #4 or #5. Obviously not overpowering stuff but he mixes his pitches very well.

Nova going into the 8th inning...LOVED that he brushed back Janish who was leaning over the plate. Conserving the pen.
Word is, Hughes has 2 more starts in the minors. If he can hit 100 pitches and still maintain his velocity then he's back as a starter.

girardi took a great outing from nova and turned it into a mess... I mean why not bring nova out for the 9th? he as mowing the reds down.. instead he brings in ayala.. basehit and then takes him out and boone logan hits the next batter.. rofl..
no wonder why the higher ups in florida had hard time with him.. He is so stubborn!!!!!!!!

Relax Son, Mo will take it from here. 5-3 Yanks. Tomorrow should be a VERY interesting game.

Great game by nova..
what a shame he could not finish the game..
what a shame we had to use mo, who again, got the job done...
and what a shame that girardi continues to be a bafoon when it comes to some of these pitching moves..

Hmm...did Girardi feel a young man like Nova after 105 pitches should rest for his next start? Hard call. With the Yanks starters minus one already, I don't see why it was THAT important to have him finish.

I think he earned the chance to go out there and finish. I mean he used 3 relievers and ended up using mo... we are already using a patchwork bullpen..

With a four run lead, I am not opposed to giving a make shift pen some work. What irritated me was Logan & company couldn't get one out...Mo had to be brought in. Maybe I am a little chapped by Cashman who keeps telling us "Soriano is doing well. He'll be back soon." what's your definition of well Brian? I don't want to get to September and Mo has been used as much as he was when he was 28. I mean, ridiculous.
I used to believe in err on the side of caution but Pharmcat is starting to grow on me that Cash babies his prospects. Be a different story if every one was healthy.

Posada finally comes through with a homer. Yanks win without A-rod or Teixiera in game 1 of a double header.

No one surprised by game 2 of the double header? When is Colon due back?

Cuerto is no pushover but the offense didn't even make it a contest. Onto the next series...
