Cashman, "We don't need Reyes but need a set up man."

Some peeps won't be happy with this statement but Yankee GM CAsh-money said the following,
"That's just not going to happen," he said. "We have an everyday shortstop in Derek Jeter," said Cashman. "And I think we have an everyday shortstop that would be playing for a lot of clubs in Eduardo Nuñez. The Yankees don't have a need now or in the future for a shortstop."

well, nice to see he supports Jeter, kinda...

"But we do need a setup man."

And THAT to me is the most disconcerting statement. Translation, Levine's gamble was a fail...and Soriano is a long shot to be back any time soon never mind his mental make up might make him salary dead weight.

Losing Joba, Feliciano, Soriano has really put a ka-bash on the idea of resting Mo during stretches. I just don't feel comfortable with the way the pen has been handled.

I don't think they need a setup man, Robertson has been great. With that said, they desperately need a lefty out of the pen because Logan sucks.

Also look for the Yankees to get in on the Yu Darvish gambit/frenzy in the offseason despite bad experiences with the last 2 japanese pitching imports (Darvish only half japanese may help). Most people have Darvish as having better stuff (5 pitches, 94-97 on his fastballs) and command than Matsuzaka and with more of a big star personality suited for handling the spotlight.
