Yanks @ Mets: Oh Jo-say can you see...

I remember when Jose Reyes early in his career had hamstring problems in between dancing in the dug out and hosting Spanish word of the day at Shea...gone are those days of fun but what is fun for mets fans is finally seeing this guy evolve from a dancing clown who didn't walk enough into a complete ball player at the age of 28.

Give the new regimen of the Mets management credit, under the current conditions this is a competitive team. That might be part of the problem as the franchise is losing money in a scandal and would be unable to add big pieces to the puzzle in the forseeable future.

Well at least attendance would be a problem as we celebrate American Stars and stripes. Both NY teams are playing very well.

For the Yanks, the return of Colon on Saturday is a tremendous boost. Nova has feasted on NL teams. Garcia has been a war horse for the Yanks giving innings...

But the Mets are finding ways to win after destroying Detroit taking two out if three...

Something has gotta give...

13-3 without DJ in the lineup, averaging 6runs per game....

Hopefully once he gets his 3000th hit he will finally move down in the lineup where he belongs at this point in his career. Call me a non fan all you want but your blind if you don't see how much more diverse and explosive our offense is without the groundball machine at the top of the lineup.

Yea, so explosive last night the top two batters gave us two hits and 6 strikeouts....seriously? How about this theory smart guy, burying Jeter's replacement to the bottom made these other guys realize the eyes are on them and finally serve notice.

Speaking of explosive, your other whipping boy Posada was a big part against the Brewers too.

Where's his praise or you gonna wait till he goes back to a slump before throwing his butt under the bus, as well?

I think Granderson set up the rookie Gee perfectly. Let the him pound Curtis inside, then wait..wait...wait for it the change up (his out pitch) and this change up bit the plate and then GONE. From there, Tex/A-Rod/Cano ripped his confidence.

BTW that was the ONLY hit of that "explosive" top of the order. Gardner who is hitting .268 got wrung up for a K at his last at bat.

Of course the Yanks could need more youth especially defensively...but if Cashman doesn't feel Montero needs to be brought up as Posada hits .238 then Yanks can live with Jeter.

To me, the wins are BIGGER testament to the pitching staff AND this make shift bullpen.

Speaking of bullpen, SERGIO MITRE RETURNS in the 9TH!!!!!!!!!! What does Cashman see in this chump?

Mo is UP and starting to warm up.

Haha I had to rewind my DVR to see if I read the graphic correctly. And now he gives up a double and a wild pitch. Smooth...

And now runners on the corners.

Oh man Mitre couldn't even glove that correctly. I would've laughed so hard if he didn't get that out.

Yup after Mitre let in his quota of 2 runs per inning...he finally gets out of the inning.

Can Garcia deliver a sweep?

Damn...Mo blows the save and Pena nearly gave the game away. Extra innings we go...

So throwing no harder than 93mph, Mo Rivera retires Beltran in the same fashion that he was retired by Wainwright in the NLCS. Then Murphy is retired on one pitch. Then Jason Bay works a walk...and it all comes apart right there.

Not QUITE ready to throw Jeter away after Pena doing his best Buckner impersonation...Gardner, Bret "The GUN" Gardner nails a Paulino at the plate.

With 2 outs (both Tex & A-Rod quitting) Cano works a triple...and the Mets WALK Posada. Will it bite them in the ass?

Boy, I don't know why it took 3 batters to bring in Boone Logan. First batter was walked. Second batter almost made it on base with a beautiful bunt. Then Ayala nearly plunks Turner before well, PLUNKING HIM.

Boone Logan was already warmed up.

NOW, Girardi waits until two men are on with one out and Beltran at the plate.

If someone doesn't shoot Pena, I'll have to do it.

Yea, a wasted gem by Garcia...thoughts on Nunez getting sent down? Hughes to start on Weds. Tell you this much, very impressed by Nunez. Guy gave a quality start every time out. Not overpowering but Guts.

Is Mitre still on the roster? I would've rather have Hughes pitch blowout relief than Mitre and keep Nunez a starter until Hughes is ready to return. As for Hughes...man, I hope his velocity has returned.
