Boy, never thought I'd miss Michael Kay...

Listening to Stephen A. Smith talk MLB on 1050 has one and only bright spot that is, it will be speeding up his exiting ESPN radio again.
Clearly this guy doesn't understand baseball is not an immediate gratification sport. All this piss and vinegar on the Yankees needing to go out and get more talent. Randomly throwing blame on pitching, Derek Jeter, etc. Welcome to yesterday.
Hey Stevie, take a look at how the Knicks are still mocked around the league...times have changed, players and opposing franchises don't look at NYC like a mecca of immortality but a whore to dump sh%tty talent and bad contracts. Whether it's the NFL, NBA, MLB, or NHL...this is the age where big markets are at a horrible disadvantage at attaining top talent (not to be confused with making money).
At the end of the day, two callers owned him. The Yankees are still capable of being a post season threat. But the age of dominance has clearly passed but the Yanks still have the third best record in MLB despite all the problems. Also Boston doesn't seem irritated that Varitek is an automatic liability, why are we all butt hurt that Jeter isn't what he once was offensively? Neither is anyone in that line up.
Season is very long. The post season plays into November. The offensively anemic SF Giants proved that it's still anyone's game and it's about getting hot at the right moments.
But one thing's for sure, Stephen A. Smith is nothing but a big bag of hot air.
