Lincecum has won 2 Cy Young awards and is worth more than 20 million a year. The question is would you try to trade for him if CC opts out and demands a contract that takes him to when he turns 40?

The Giants' are built on pitching but how much longer can Lincecum take the poor to average hitters on that team. His era was better in 2011 than 2010 but he had a losing record because the offense was one of the worst in the history of the game.

His last contract was 2 years. He likes short term contracts but if he evers enters the open market he could make 25 million plus. The Giants can't possibly add any hitters if Cain and Lincecum make 20 million each.

Why Giants would consider trading Lincecum, just can't compete financially, terrible offense, even weaker minor league system, and Matt Cain looks easier to resign to a more reasonable contract than Lincecum.

Absolutely I would move heaven and earth for the Freak. Not just a great pitcher but a clubhouse guy. Plus, I get the Filipino nation on our side that includes Manny.

But in no way would SF make that deal.

All that for Lincecum? No thanks. You're talking about the Yanks 2 best pitching prospects, their best OF prospect (a 5-tools guy), arguably their best catching prospect and a young pitcher that appears to have an unique blend of power (a 95mpg sinker) and control (2.2 BB/9) in Stoneburner who could be in the big leagues as a starter within the next couple seasons. Yanks would be better off waiting one year and then throwing what they throw best (money) at one of the big name FA pitchers than basically upchucking their entire farm system for Lincecum.

I can't picture that little frame, violent delivery and work load lasting very long without his arm starting to break down hard. I wouldn't risk much for him.

I'm willing to bet Sabbathia's weight issues breaking him down before the Freak does. Just the possibilities of having CC and Lincecum as the 1-2 to the Yanks rotation beats this 1 WS in the last 11 years returns. The Yanks are already saddled with aging dead weight contracts (see A-Rod) you might as well add the ONE guaranteed commodity to squeeze 1-2 WS championships.

I don't think it requires pitching prospects from the Yanks but hitting and fielding prospects, something they DO have.
