People will laugh, as will Yankee fans thinking this guy is finished. He then proves his fastball can top at 90 and the break and his control on all of his pitches is as great as it ever was.
I can dream...if he can compete for a 4th or 5th spot to keep the others on their toes, I'd be more than happy.

I don't think any self-respecting Yankee fan will laugh, thinking Pettitte is finished. Then again, I didn't think Yankee fans would boo Jeter and Mo.
Pettitte signing comes as Pineda comes in 10 lbs over weight, reduced velocity...Garcia is hurt...Kuroda & Hughes are hot and cold.
If Andy can win 10-12 games, I'm a happy man..though right now, the Yankees offense SCARES me.

Modern Yankee fans would boo Babe Ruth if he went through a rough stretch.

Not at all, Pettitte is still ancient.

Let me add another word to correct myself. Modern casual Yankee fans would still boo Babe Ruth if he was going through a rough stretch.

I like to think the Yankees are just stockpiling starters just so they can point and laugh at what the Red Sox are rolling with.
It's weird. I know he's 40 in a few months but he was still good enough when he retired that there's got to be other teams that would take a flyer on him and give him a better shot at the rotation. It's nice to have him around but odds are he's going to be starting for SWB come April unless he wants to fight for a spot in the pen.

when the majority of the fans in the park are making far less than 100k a year and watching people like Arod, Tex and etc making over 20 million to play baseball. you better believe you are going to get booed if you dont produce. you dont want to get booed? either produce or get out of ny.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Yeah because the Yankees weren't going to trade for a rookie all star and take the nice chance of him wearing pinstripes for the next 15 years based on a 40 year old pitcher who is coming off of retirement because he lacked the desire to play pro baseball and wanted to spend more time with his family.
Kudos to Andy on not being a me first player who jumped at the 12 million offer that Cashman offered back in December. Andy comes back for 1 year 2.5 million minor league deal.
Would have been Nice if our "captain" would have left money on the table and had given the Yankees a fair market hometown discount. Butttttttt nooooooooo "captain" had to cry and complain
