TB Baked Ray-Zombies (30-23) @ Yanks (29-24): Barometer read

Despite all the Yanks struggles' offensively/defensively/pitching...only 1 game out of first place but don't get too comfy, only 2 games separate them from BoSawx.

Yanks went 6-3 on a road trip that hit Oakland, Anaheim, and Detroit. Not bad. When you think about it, they gave 2 games away...So while, it's not a statement road trip...it's trending vital signs that this team's best has yet to come. THAT'S the good news.

Upcoming trip against Tampa is the BEST test to see where the Yanks are as a team...

Match ups:

Pettitte v. Shields: Andy's biggest test

Nova v. Price: Very interesting match up.

Sabbathia v. Hellickson: Could be the swing vote in this 3 game set.

Let's GO YANKS!

Andy Pettitte showing the kids how its done, 7Ks and only 2 hits given up. Once again, knowing how to pitch...doesn't mean you need 97mph fast ball but how to design an out.

6-0 Yanks and the bottom half of the order is coming up big as it would have to from time to time.

I wonder what the history of this franchise would have been if Andy didn't leave for the Astros for 3 years and if Andy didn't decide to take 2011 off to spend time with the kids.

2004 was such a mess. Can't believe the Yanks drew a line in the sand that year...Hmmm that seems to be the buzz word last 2 seasons?

Once again, players Gene Michel, architect of the 90s Yanks dynasty are doing it again...Jeter still hitting .332 and Pettitte turning back the clock.

7-0 Yanks...

honestly, considering he is one of the best postseason pitchers of our generation, we might have 6 or 7 rings with this group instead of 5.

Yanks Better hire this guy as a coach to some capacity...I mean, none of these kids after Andy understand pitching beyond just throwing hard (see Hughes).

fallacy of the pre determined outcome. Cano with a homerun after arod gets picked off of first.

Great night at the park. Nova pitching well. See how that line up looks mortal without Longoria.

Rivera going down with an injury sucks big time. Yankees were knocked big time for signing Soriano last year to that 3 year 30 million plus deal but thankfully the Yankees were able to replace Rivera this year with an all star level closer.

Former All-Star. He certainly did not live up to his contract in his first seasons as a Yankee. With Robertson out, he's more comfortable closing. Hopefully Robertson comes back fine. Cory Wade is not someone I want to live with in the 8th inning.
