CC Sabbathia might be the only player that drops weight and I am concerned...
Spring training is funny. You can look at these guys and think, no way is this guy going to be any good and then the season began and Raul Ibanez is tearing it up.

If Pineda misses all of 2013, I would be ok so long a he's ready in 2014.

The only excitement is spring training is around which ancient player might regain form or not get hurt. There is no young hopeful to root for because the Yanks don't have any.
Unless the contest for which pile of crap catcher emerges excites you. Or which 5th starters make the yanks 3,4th and 5th slots.

You know what? Good. Yankees deserve bad luck this year. And I'm a fan. But it's clear this year they could give a crap.

To bad they still won't be bad enough for this team to change its ways or for it to be able to draft a top prospect. At this rate they may head into the late 70's, early 80's Knicks category of being good enough to not get an prospects that can matter, bad enough to not be able to do anything come playoff time.

Maybe they see how well the Knicks have done with old guys and semi retired guys and trying to do the same?

Well for a guy like Brian Cashman who BRAGGED nonstop about the Yanks' payroll and trying to transform it into a competitive team around 80-90M. I'm not seeing the magic.
Also, let's be honest here. The Knicks have ALWAYS done that scrap trying to build around youth. Go with the quick fix with vets. Where has it gotten them? No championships in close to 40 yrs. Sure there are some good moments in between but never crowned.
This season, no one is looking at the Knicks as the dominant team despite their high ranking but rather, hoping a few things break their way...and hoping the injuries don't force them to fold like a house of cards. If they are upset in the first round, Woody is GONE (not deservedly) but that's where management is with this team.

Yup. Signs seem to point that Cash is thinking, with PED testing taking effect and stat #s leveling out...the difference between win and loss is reduced to 3-2 or 4-3 game. Hence, he's hoping a healthy rotation with a deep pen can shut down teams...then at the trading deadline add a bat or two.
