Phil wouldn't be pitching if Pineda's shoulder wasn't barking (again).

Equally awful in San Franciso, a pitcher's park.

Hughes' problem is that four Seam fastball that appears belt high and should rise out of the zone before the batter can react. Instead it stays between the belt and letters and the batters tee off. See the Boston series in Fenway where he was brought out of the pen and ended the game with a walk off homer.

I'd still bring him back next year and try to bring him out of the bullpen. He did good in the bullpen when that was his role. Should be able to get him back on a cheap contract.

He has been horrible though, I really thought he was going to be an ace type player.

It just looks like he's already given up and just waiting to get out of dodge. Too bad the Yanks can't risk offering him arbitration (to potentially get a compensation pick) since no one is going to pay him $13 or so million next season. Oh well, should have really tried to trade him before the deadline or even afterwards (doubt too many teams would have claimed him).
