NY Yankees rumored plan to spend big but stay under $189M

Just a rumor (I really hope this stays a rumor). According to sources, New York is expected to target Robinson Cano, Masahiro Tanaka, Brian McCann and Carlos Beltran.

Cano is a given. Yanks have no leverage. That's on them for being stupid.

You can never have enough pitching and the fact is, Tanaka might be the only option. Let's hope Cashman doesn't pay another Kei Igawa.

I thought the Yankees were allegedly deep at catcher position in the minors. Wasn't that the reason for not re-signing Russell for a couple million? Guess not.

Beltran? I'm sorry this guy NEVER played well in a pressure cooker like NYC. I'd rather have Curtis back at a cheaper price. He might not hit for average but Granderson is 10 times more a good teammate than Beltran.

How can you "spend big" but remain under $189 million, with all the money tied up in Sabathia, ARod, Jeter, Texiera alone?

I call BS

Yanks "big spending" will be aging crap retreads and probably overpaying for Cano, maybe. That's all folks.

As long as they can get below 189 and look to have a future plan, I dont care what they do. Re-doing the FO should be step 1.

They don't have a coherent plan. Other than save some money. That's the problem.
