But on Thursday morning, several Japanese newspapers reported that the Eagles — who control the rights to Tanaka until the end of 2015 — would not permit major league teams to bid for him.

this team is on a downward trend and has been put in a precarious position thanks to the mismanagement of ownership and the FO

Not surprised.

If they can stay below 189, it might be a wasted yr again in 2014, but they'll be able to rebuild much quicker in 2015/2016. If they go over 189 and get hamstrung by the increase in lux tax costs, its going to be a long ~ 10 years of losing.

Gonna wait and see. The deadline is Feb 1st, so until there is official word...these "sources" are suspect.
