OT: A-Rod out 2014

Post#1 » by HixNixKnicksTix » Sat Jan 11, 2014 6:05 pm

http://espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/story/_/id/10278277/alex-rodriguez-suspension-reduced-162-games

Way back in 2001/2002 I opted for an A-Rod rookie card instead of a $50 card game win. Boy am I dumb.

i still think the ban is excessive and out of line. It should not have been more than the amount for a first failed offense

Looking into my crystal ball, I see them writing him a 61million dollar check and then he signs with my Mets!

Whatever. A-Rod is an irrelevant baseball player at this point in his career. One of the worst contracts in the history of sports.
And just like that, the lead has been cut to 8!

Yankees easily were better with him last year. In 44 games, he outproduced every other 3b they had.

I hope he goes to Federal court and wins

Peace out, Frosty McPurple Lips.

More money for a Japanese import.

A-Rod has had one good postseason as a Yankee. I couldn't care less whether or not he comes back.

devils advocate.... he's had 2 MVP seasons as a yankee. if he's not on the team, then pitchers have an easier outing.

The $25M for a 40+ year old Arod is not worth it at all. Glad he's gone.

You can take that money, get yourself a good pitcher and still find a replacement level 3B on the market.

Arod wasn't great last year either when he appealed, but his numbers looked better because the Yankees were trotting out minor leaguers at 3B all season.

He still will get paid when he's 40. He has another year after this

Also, they don't win the World Series in 09 without him. He was the good during the post season the year.

But the guy really is a douche, which is why I can see why a lot of fans will never cherish what he did when he actually did perform well during the post season. Even if it was only that one particular year.

Yea I know he gets paid after this season, I was just talking about this season though. Didn't realize he wasn't 40 yet.

Who knows maybe Arod will agree to a buyout and retire with dignity (not banking on it)

Very stupid decision on MLB's part. I hope A-Rod gets out of this situation even though its unlikely.

SportsCenter: Yankees will receive a season's worth of salary relief, saving about $24.1 million as a result of Alex Rodriguez's suspension.

Wish there was a way to trade for Pablo Sandoval or something.

Not a fan of Pablo "Panda" Sandoval. He's a 1B in the making sooner than later.

As for Alex, don't care how much or little PEDs had to do with his performance. It has to do with how his fellow competitors feel. Not just Alex but McGwire, Sosa, Clemens, Bonds, etc and the records they made a joke of.

Imagine if at your job, someone who was clearly less talented suddenly rolled in and could do 2-3 times the work he or she did yesterday. What if that person got a promotion ahead of you. Later you learned it had NOTHING to do with their natural talent/skills/experience but rather popping a drug. Now they're making more money than you are and worse, you're under their boot.

Now let's say that was illegal in the work place and they got busted BUT allowed to keep their job and pay. See what I am getting at?

Fairness in competition. Man vs man. That's all we wanted. It's all we should get in sports.
