Ridiculous money but it had to happen for this team to be relevant.

He doesn't have Yu's high end stuff, but he has variety. That's a lot for a guy who, even if he works out, may not be an ace, but if the scouts are right and he can be something like Iwakuma or a better version of Kuroda, he's still something the Yankees needed.

If you're gonna spend, SPEND. I say get another pitcher to round out the rotation and relegate Phelps and Pineda to spot starts out of the bullpen. Garza would probably be my choice as he won't cost as much as Jimenez and Yanks wouldn't have to give up a draft compensation for him like Jimenez and Santana.

Still need a setup man (Balfour can do that or close and Robertson can stay as setup). Perhaps a third basemen as well.

I was just going to say Jimenez but thanks for pointing out the loss in draft compensation. You know what is disturbing? ALL of this over spending is due to the fact, the team cannot draft to save their lives. They've SPENT so much money to replace ALL of these positions and they're NOT done yet. Unbelievable.

they cant draft
they cant develop talent
they refused to sign IFA last couple years
cant make the POs
cant get under 189

this team has no direction and throwing money at players with questions beltran (knee) ellsbury (injuries) tanaka (never played in mlb) mccan (shoulder) is just a short sighted desperate move to barely make playoffs

need new FO

They should go for Jimenez for sh*ts and grins. Who cares about the "pick". Yanks can't draft effectively anyway. Now, it they had fired all the scouts and the entire minor league staff, maybe the pick would be worth something, but since they didn't, might as well grab Jimenez.

Last I checked, it's still Tanaka, Sabathia, Kuroda and Nova, so they need another starter, especially for the inevitable Sabathia injury, or Kuroda dropping off or Nova's "crap" stretch for 10 starts.

is the compensation system different now? I thought the yanks wouldnt have to give up a pick since they already gave one up for ellsbury or mccan or beltran.

If they already gave away a 1st rounder, they would have to give the 2nd rounder...... or other 1st if they have more. Basically second best pick they own.
