Yeah but Long really didn't help himself either. Unlike how the Yanks managed to get blood from a stone with their pitching plug-ins (kudos to Larry Rothschild), Long managed to keep underwhelming hitters underwhelming, they weren't able to produce runs, their OBP was sub par and there was just no life all the way around with any of their hitters (other than Solarte for about a quarter of the season).

Well looks like Dave Magadan is out of consideration as rumors that the Yanks didn't like something he said during some interview (perhaps with another team).

Will this help? Nobody knows, but at least we'll finally get to find out if the crappy hitting was really Long's fault or not.
