NEW YORK (WFAN) — According to WFAN’s Mike Francesa, Yankees pitcher Michael Pineda has an elbow issue and will not pitch on Thursday night. CC Sabathia will start in his place.

“I hear Pineda’s hurt,” Francesa told WFAN co-hosts Joe Benigno and Evan Roberts on Thursday afternoon. “He’s not pitching tonight, and he might be badly hurt. And I hear Nova’s hurting.”

Francesa said Pineda “could be headed to the DL” with the elbow issue.

Just a day ahead of the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline, the pitching market is thin. Both Cole Hamels and David Price have been traded. James Shields and Mike Leake might be potential targets for Yankees general manager Brian Cashman.

And so the collapse begins.

Womp womp womp...and the shoe has started to slip.

May be why they've been express tracking Severino. Severino is apparently doing real well in AAA, just struck out 10 batters last night and is sporting a sparking 2.11 era through 10 starts (at AAA).

I would not panic and overpay for a David Price rental in any case.

Trade for another McCarthy type player or two probably would be the better option at this point IMO. If they can trade for Samardzija, that probably would be ideal. He's not been great but he's got great temperament, is a workhorse, throws hard and doesn't walk batters. I would see if the White Sox would be willing to make a deal centered around Gary Sanchez (currently considered the Yanks 5th best prospect) and another top 20 prospect. That should be very fair.

Let's get Anibel Sanchez, and call up Serverino

Not interested in former Red Sox Anabolic "Steroid" Sanchez.

I'm fine with the Yanks going with Tanaka, Eovaldi, CC Sabbathia, Warrren and pitcher du jour...

It's to be expected during the course of a long season.

Sanchez shouldn't cost that much, he should be the same cost as Brandon McCarthy.

Pineda has Grade 1 forearm strain. Same as Miller, who missed a month. Being put on DL, but #Yankees feel he will pitch again this yr

Options:
Call up Servino,

Warren back in the rotation. Could then go get another bullpen arm

Yankees should go get 1 starting pitcher on the trade market if the price isn't crazy

As for Nova, #Yankees still feeling just dealing with post-TJ surgery issues, not anything new or damaging.
