Am I missing something fellas?!?!
I mean A-Rod seemingly has been knocked for a while with the Yankees, but he is still going down as one of the ALL-TIME GREATS, even if he should retire tomorrow. Are they really serious about comparing the two????

their games are so different from each other , Reyes is known for his legs and fielding
Alex Rodriguez is known for every single aspect in baseball, people in NY forget get this too much.
HR threat
RBI threat
baserunning threat
can field SS/3B
more importantly can carry a club for the year , take today's game for example
2run homerun to start it off,
scored on Posada's long single,
scored on Giambi's slam which he took a walk to allow the situation to favor us,
and 4 run grand slam.
but at the time it was 4 of the 6 runs before the slam....
8/10 all together we're created by Alex Rodriguez, the Alex Rodriguez haters need to eat crap not crow, crap this season.
This year 4 games into the season he's shutting up the critics , Joel Sherman, David Justice, Jim Leyritz, Steven A.Smith, Max Kellerman, George King, ... DID I MENTION JOEL SHERMAN !!!!!!

They are blinded by the Yankee hate.
It's hard to believe taht a lof of those posters are from the Knick board and see the same blind hate from trolls all the time, but can still do it to the yankees.
Also, Suge I wanted to commend on your fight in that thread.. The Wade & Marbury comparison was great IMO.

I think Reyes will be the best SS in the league some day, but right now, he's "only" in the top 5. Should you encounter a Mets fan claiming he's one of the best players in the league because he's "dynamic", put your fingers in your ears and slowly step away...

It happens in every sport. To break it down:
1. An ok young player = Going to be an all-star.
2. A great young player = Going to be a superstar.
3. An amazing young player = The best player in his position right now and a future HOF.

Since ARod has arrived in NY, people have forgotten who he actually is as a baseball player. It went from ARod to Pujols, yet ARod was better than Pujols just a few short seasons ago. Nobody would argue that Reyes is better than Pujols, yet is isn't even a question to those same people that Reyes is better than ARod. They couldn't be more wrong, ARod can go down as a top 10 player in baseball history.

A-Rod is challenging 500 home runs this season. Lots of guys have started out their careers strong only to fade by mid-career. A-Rod draws a lot of heat, but his bad years are most players' career years.

Yep, before he came to NY, he was considered the best player in baseball by everybody..even the haters.
I don't care though, A-Rod's gonna have a MONSTER season, leading us to our 27th championship

Exactly. It's like Kobe in a sense.
Even if he has an 'average' season for him, it's a career year for someone else.

Reyes isn't as good as A-Rod. There, it's been said. However, his game is improving drastically.

Reyes is certainly a completely unique player, and he is great at what he does. However, that doesn't make you the best. Sure he can do a lot of things, but lets not forget he still only got on base 36% of the time last year. Regardless of how many triples he hits or how many bags he steals, it is hard to be a "great" lead off hitter while only getting on base that much.

A-Rod can retire today one of the greatest.
Reyes is no where NEAR greatest.

Reyes is also really young with a lot of time to be one of the greatest. I agree that the comparison is not good right now, but in the future it can be.

I don't really see it being an issue in the future, either. Reyes is like Henderson in a lot of ways, probably not even as good. No human being would be consider putting Henderson on ARod's planet.
